The cup is easy to place on a 12-notched external bearing bottom bracket, and uses a 3/8-inch drive for attachment to a ratchet or torque wrench so you can torque down your bottom bracket just right. The BBT-79 fits 46mm bottom brackets, and is anodized silver so its easy to spot it in your drawer of bottom bracket tools.

Unless your a professional Bike Mechanic buying these tools online can be tricky. Both my bikes have SRAM DUB bottom brackets. If you count the notches on your DUB BB, you'll see you have 24 notches, yet this says it's for a 12 notch BB (CONFUSING)!Going down the rabbit hole of BB tools, i do believe there is a different version of this that is specifically for a 24 notch BB. However this fits like a glove and it does feel like it's making a solid connection when i go to tighten the Cups into the Frame.

The right tool for the job is so important. Dont you dare use channel locks or vise grips to remove the BB. Get this and save yourself the frustration.

The SRAM DUB bottom brackets use a different spline from their older ones, so I needed a new tool. Park makes great tools and this is no exception. It works with a torque wrench so you can install the BB correctly.

Can't believe I have to buy yet another BB tool (I think I have 6 different ones at this point), but what are you going to do?This worked fine for my SRAM BB.

You get what you pay for and in this case you get a lot more. I wasn't sure which bb tool to but for my SRAM cups, so I called Park Tool and they put me in touch with one of their tech's. I gave him the make and model and emailed him a pic. He quickly identified which one to buy and sent me a link to their video on how to remove and disassemble. Needless to say it saved me a lot of time and agitation. I changed out my crankset and bearing cups in under an hour like a surgeon. I will never buy a bike tool that isn't manufactured by Park.

Some of the reviews I read on line reported this tool was poor quality and did not work. I had no issues removing a manufacture fitted DUB BB. The tool seems pretty robust and up to the usual Park Tools standard. As with most BB tools, you need to take care to ensure the socket sits square over the BB cup and stays that way while force it put through the socket wrench.

I normally use a half crescent tool to remove my external bottom brackets. It's very handy for what they are and works well. I did have one minor headache with the crescent bottom bracket tools. They could slip off the external bottom bracket and damage it in the process. Luckily, Park Tool created a ratchet tool to fix this problem! The BBT-79 was designed primarily for SRAM DUB 46mm bottom bracket removal and installation. I used it with my ratchet and it made my job so much easier. I definitely recommend these bottom bracket tools over the crescent versions.
