I built a new gaming PC and my motherboard only has 1 usb3.0 input for my front IO. My chassis required 2 inputs. This card not only allowed me to use all my built in USB on the chassis but added more in the rear panel. Very useful and simple to install

My firts review was:Mine just “works” for 3 days, after that becomes useless. Don”t charge, don”t recognized, even damage the PCI-e port, bacuse try put back my old usb3.0 card and send a message “PC stops PCI-e port because has conflict”.,,UPDATE:After a few weeks my HDD stop working properly, so, I change it for a SSD and the PC works fine, stops making “beeps” and so on, then decided to reinstall the USB-C card and now works perfect, conected the external power suply cord and charge perfectly every phone and usb device… highly recommended

I bought this card because I wanted to be able to pass through the entire USB controller to VM's that I run on my server. It works very nicely for this because it uses the Fresco Logic FL1100 USB 3.0 host controller chip set making it compatible with most operating systems including Mac, Windows, Linux...Pros:- Inexpensive.- Very high quality PCB.- Soldering on the SMD components is excellent.- Internal USB 3.0 header for two more USB ports.Cons:- Not really USB Type-C (only USB 3.0 on the Type-C ports).- Poor soldering on ALL multi-pin connections.- Bracket needs to be bent correctly to use.The first thing I noticed on this board is the very high quality PCB. You don't often find this type of quality at this price point. The next thing I noticed was that the bracket was bent and that I needed to first straighten it to fit it into my case and have USB devices fit into their slots. On initial use, the card worked perfectly and I was please. However, after a couple days the card became intermittent wreaking havoc on starting my VM's.I removed the card and inspected the soldering. While the surface mount soldering is great, I noticed that none of the multi-pin connectors were properly soldered (power, USB 3.0 USB-C, USB header). None of them had solder for every pin. One of my USB "C" connectors literally had no solder on any pins (only the housing for the connector was soldered down holding it in place).Fortunately for me, I am a video engineer and also do SMD repair for a living so I re-soldered every pin on all of the multi-pin connectors. Since that time, the card has worked perfectly and I am very happy. I would not have been happy if I didn't know how to re-solder the pins.I chose this card primarily because of the internal USB 3.0 header (at this price) so that I could plug two USB 3.0 ports into it from the front of my server case. This is great, but I have one small complaint here. There is no physical mounting system to hold the USB header in place on the board; the only thing holding the header are the 20-pins for the electrical connection to the header. A different header with mounts would be a better design. I plan to remove the card again and slide a bit of epoxy between the header and board to make it much more sturdy. When I purchased the card I wrongly assumed that the USB Type-C ports were true USB Type-C and not just connected to the USB 3.0 hub. One factor in choosing this card over others was what I thought was USB Type-C capability. However, at this price point I probably would have still chosen this card even if I had known USB-C was not truly present. I don't really use anything that needs USB-C yet so having the plug converter built into the card is still a plus. This card is close to excellent, and I would have given it five stars if the multi-pin connectors were soldered correctly. If they tighten up the manufacturing in this area just a bit they will have a nearly ideal card at a very attractive price. I struggled between rating this 2-5 stars because for other users the bad soldering of the multi-pin connectors would have made this card useless, but for me it's very high quality at a low price with a small amount of labor.

I bought this product because I am in the process of upgrading my I-Phone 6 to an I-Phone 12 Pro Max and I figured I would need the USB C port in order to sync it. This product seemed like a good choice because included both the USB C connections as well as 3 USB 3.0 ports. I wasn't particularly swayed by the price, although it struck me as a good value. When the product arrived I found very little in documentation and what was included was in what appeared to be 4 point text. Even with a magnifying glass it was hard to read. In addition, there was no indication regarding which product was enclosed on the shipping box, even though there were a series of different products listed, but none of the boxes were checked. The driver disc was a joke because none of the folders referenced in the instructions was present on the disc, so I wasted time looking for a driver that, until I looked at some of the reviews, I didn't need to install, given that I am using Windows 10. Further, there was no mention of any website to visit for support and my device manager is giving me the following message: Unknown USB Device (Link in Compliance Mode) and I can't tell if it is connected with this product or not. Additionally, I had to come back to the Amazon site to find out who sold the product because that is not even mentioned on the box. Finally, in reading through the reviews on this site, which perhaps I should have done before finalizing my purchase, I find that this product isn't even a true USB C device, but one that merely links the USB C port to the USB 3.0 connections on the device. In my mind that is a very misleading way to do business.I am not scheduled to receive my new phone until next month, so I will play with this product a little bit and, when the phone arrives, if the product doesn't measure up, I will toss it in the trash and go looking for something that is more suitable and chalk it up to a sucker is born every minute.

I've used up all available USBs on my Asus X570 Strix (3950X user here).Over all this PCIe card was the best bang for the buck for my needs getting me 3 additional normal usb connections and headroom with 2 more USB C ports. Most likely what ever new phone and devices I purchase in the next year or so will be adopting to the faster standard so doesnt hurt to get something a little more and this expansion card fits the bill.Installation is straight forward:- Turn OFF that computer- Open up the computer and spare slot (eg removing the slot shield if its there)- Drop the card into the slot- Use the same screw from the shield and anchor down the card- Connect the power connector- Boot up the machine to make sure everything works ( Windows 10 user here.. just recognized out of the gate).- Close up the case/computer once everything tests ok.Live the dream and not have to plug and unplug all the time.
