Will not work unless your roof is perfectly flat. Also way too expensive for a piece of extruded aluminum, some foam and ratchet straps. Lastly the anti slip rubber on the foam was already peeling off by the time it got to me. Would not trust this to hold kayaks on the road

Way more secure, safe and easier than any other pads and strap system for a kayak if you don't have a roof rack (if you do, not this is not for you). It really secures your kayak to your roof and doesn't move around. The adjustable pads on the bar make this so much better to get the pads where you need them to contact your kayak.

I had J hooks before, but this is easier and easily tied down. You will be happy you didn’t spend $300-400 on the j hook versions out there!

Great unexpensive alternative rack for your kayak easy to install only issues... Make sure it doesn't rain! I hit a cloud of heavy rain on my ways to the lake and it was pouring rain inside the car as you can see it in the picture it altered the seal of the door making it not rain proof. Another thing is if not properly tighten the straps gets in the wind and makes very loud sound like an airplane is flying over your head. But overall sturdy and keeps kayak in place.

Very convenient to use ony car ,the instructions Say to always mount kayak right side up but my seat flaps in the wind and I'm afraid of loosing it .works just fine up to 70mph .I may take a hot knife and shave the foam for flater fit .the only thing I am concerned about is the ends of the metal box channels are a little sharp I filed them round a lil bit so they can't cut the straps .for the money this is an excellent option for single trips.

Good product. The missing star is because of the “T” Straps that are meant to be closed under the hood and hatch/trunk didn’t hold on my vehicle. Chevy Equinox.

This product is just what I anticipated. Seems like it will work great. Havent had a chance to use yet since the car I got it for died. Will definitely try it in the summer and upload pictures then. Seems easy to use and understandable.

First I want to say don't pay attention to any of the reviews unless they are five stars. The reviews that are under five stars are from customers that obviously didn't do research or didn't have common sense. I am new to the kayaking world and needed a way to haul my kayak on my Chevy Impala. I did my research and watched a few YouTube videos on the basics of how to haul my new toy. There weren't any videos on this specific model of rack, but I was able to figure it out thanks to the videos and the clear instructions that the rack came with. I found this rack to be of great quality and price because on the Pelican website this is $20 more. I was able to haul my 10 foot, 36-pound kayak an hour away and in windy conditions. I didn't go over 50MPH and I stopped twice to inspect because I was nervous with this being my first time hauling it. But I didn't have any problems. I will now be more confident hauling my kayak. I am so happy with this product!

I hoped for the best when I purchased this carrier to take my 12 foot long, 42 inch wide, 77 lb kayak on 500+ mile trip on top of a car not designed for that kind of work. This carrier made the job easy! Installation was quick and easy, the straps provided are far better quality that those I had acquired elsewhere and it kept my car's roof entire safe and clear of damage of any kind. Highly recommend!

After having my ‘yak nearly fly off the car roof with the least expensive foam car carrier, I upgraded to this one. For those without built on car racks, this item is ideal. It creates a car rack, straps the ‘yak to that solid carrier, then doubles the safety with trunk and hood t-bar straps. Without having to buy a new roof-rack equipped car, I now feel confident that my ‘yak ain’t goin’ nowhere I don’t want it to go! I highly recommend this product. Very satisfied.
