This brush isn't really the right kind for our puppy. He's a chocolate lab and I find that other brushes work better than this one for him.

This tool works greak! Some of these reviews are due to people not understanding what this tool is supposed to do and not knowing how to properly use it. Never go over 1 single area more then 5 or 6 times and only do it about once to twice a week. You can cause damage to the skin and/or your dog can get sunburnt.

I have had a few brushes like this and they all are virtually identical and all work pretty good for what they do. I actually opted for the smaller one because I figured it would work a bit better for my smaller cats and our dog might be less spooked by having less teeth pulling all at once. I was basically right in my theory, though the dog is hyper sensitive anyway she does put up with this brush longer than she will put up with the bigger ones. It functions the same as the bigger ones but since it catches less snarls in one pass it isn't quite as aggressive. Cats seem to like both about equal but they are short hairs and don't have to deal with as many snarls as the wiry haired terrier. The smaller size does let you maneuver on smaller critters a bit easier and seems to be a good option for smaller breeds.

This cat brush works very well to get the undercoat off of my cat. Especially if I can do a cross hatch on her hair. But it has to be slight because if you’re doing it roughly, it takes a lot of hair out but then she’s uncomfortable. Again, it gets a lot of hair off of her.I do wish that the handle design were more ergonomic. As it is, I have to really hold the whole brush flat to her body almost like the handle also has to rub along her body to get the hair off. If it was a slight angle, or the head was angled differently. It would be a much smoother use of this. I can’t really complain too much as it does get hair off, but I do wish the handle was designed differently.

Not for cats. Got it? Not for cats.It doesn't work with cat hair. Not enough tines. And the tines themselves are just a bit sharp on a cat's skin.Cannot say anymore, other than repeating ...Not for cats. Got it? Not for cats. One star only because I cannot give it ZERO stars.
