Whilst it performs as it should there are issues with resistance control, it's either free or it's fixed in postion. Although there is a large amount of turning on the knob it does nothing. The allen keys supplied for adjusting or removing the arca plate are too small and render them useless. Why include them? As it stands I'm considering returning it and purchasing the Wimberley version, more costly bit you know what you're getting.

This head looks like it is built to high tolerances. However the first one I received would not loosen freely. I returned it and purchased another. This on as well would not swing freely even when backed all the way out. Disapointed because based upon the design and build I really wanted it to work.

I love this thing for shooting with my long telephoto lens. Build quality is great, price was really good compared to similar products, very intuitive to use.

Was impressed by the build quality but be aware that this specific type of monopod gimbal mount has issues which ultimately made me return the product. First of all, because of the design the centre of gravity of anything attached to the mount is not in line with the monopod but rather to one side. With my heavy Canon R5/Canon 200mm-800mm lens, the monopod had a constant tendency to tip to one side making it tiring to use and causing camera shake. In contrast, with a simple one-axis mount the centre of of gravity is directly in line with the monopod. Your mileage may vary with a lighter camera/lens combination. Secondly, because the mount is to one side be aware that you will lose some height compared to a single-axis mount. The two photographs show that it is about 4 inches compared to using a one-axis mount. This may be an issue depending on your monopod and or height.

I purchased this gimbal after using a friend’s Wimberley MH-100. I know the Wimberley is a slam dunk but I’m on a tight budget and the price was certainly tempting. I also have to admit that I just liked the way this one looked better as well.I have been using this on a monopod (just to be clear) and the lenses I have been using are an 8.5lb 500mm f/4 and 4.5lb RF 200-800 along with a Canon R8 and Canon R7. Overall I found that all combinations of cameras and lenses balanced well on this gimbal and were easy to use once I got used to the offset design. I have mainly been using the monopod/mono gimbal when photographing birds at feeders where the feeders are at or near eye-level and have been very pleased with the performance of this head.I find the action to be nice and smooth and haven’t had any issues getting the tension just the way I like it so I can swing the rig around to follow the birds in a nice smooth controlled manner.I have now totally replaced my tripod/full gimbal setup with this for traveling. The monogimbal and monopod is so much more compact and lightweight and offers just the stability I want when I have to keep the camera in shooting position for long periods.I would definitely recommend this head to a friend and have no regrets going with the more budget friendly option.

I have to admit, I didn't have a lot of faith when I ordered this gimbal. I am absolutely thrilled however now that it's mine! The way you can carry this over your back with camera and lens attached makes carrying it into the field a breeze. The flexibility and simplicity cannot be overstated. It is very robust - handles my 5D mk IV and Sigma 60-600 no problem. One of the best pieces of kit I've purchased in a long time. I highly recommend it!

Do NOT go cheap on a device like this one. It is not up to the standards of ones costing twice as much, but those will not cause you to drop to pricey camera/lens combo. The knobs on this are not well designed and you need that to protect your gear. Beware.

Product arrive in a cardboard box with protective foam. Stain are find on the main locking knob, wipe it away and everything is perfect.Construction feels very solid. I did not expected there is some sort of fluid-like resistance with the head rotation, personally I think it may slow down the camera movement when tracking fast moving object, but it does provide smooth and steady motion if it suit your shooting purpose.Even if the main knob is tightened, the head can still be rotated you force it real hard, However if you mount the lens/camera with the gravity center position correctly, it shouldn't cause any problem. Most of the time you are going to loosen it for shooting and only tighten it when carrying it for reposition.I did a short testing section with a R6 + EF-RF mount + 300mm f/2.8 II combo and it works nicely. The provided arca plate is kind of short, consider it is a side mount design, using a longer plate with 2 screws or replacement lens feet for larger lens is recommended. The plate itself is also well build though, use it for another traditional head or what, it will do the job.Overall I am very happy with it. If you can afford $179, of course it'd better to support the original design, but this one is a very nice budget option.

Tripod/monopod heads are really a you get what you pay for item. Get the best one you can afford. That said, if this is what you can afford, it's a good option. Works smooth, and balances fairly easy. I use it on my monopod and it makes it much easier to use.

This small device works very well on a monopod, and even better on top of a ball head on a tripod. While this head works better than most, I still find the monopod awkward. Because the monopod does not stand by itself, attaching a heavy lens to the clamp can be difficult. However, on a tripod, this device turns the ball head into a better gimbal than a regular side-mount gimbal, because the ball can be used to level the camera. This device is solidly built. The damping is just about right: stiff enough to make mounting a lens easier and yet loose enough to move the lens freely when shooting. It is kind of pricey though, given that it is just a bearing between a knob and a clamp.

I have been using the Weyllan CH55 and have found the build quality to be excellent with large tightening knobs. The CH55 is large and extremely sturdy. Therefore when I decided to try a tilt head for my monopod and I decided to go with the Weyllan PH3, also because it is around $100 cheaper than a well known brand. Again the build quality is second to none and it works as intended. Therefore the 5 stars. However, and this comes down to personal preferences, the center of gravity will be way to the side of the monopod and you can get the same functionality by using a sturdy ball head. Also, any tilthead of this type does not work well with a pan base I use when I need to get down on the ground.I prefer to use a gimbal tripod head, like the excellent Sevenoak SK-GH04 together with a ball head. This setup keeps the center of gravity centered over the monopod or the pan base which gives more stability. Attached are photos showing the different setups.Update: I placed another order for the Weyllan PH3 as it is more suitable for traveling because of its size than the gimbal tripod head described above.
