If ur in to IT or at home projects this is a unit that can help you if you need to pull power from a network cable to power a tablet or other devices

I can't write a full length review of this product because I bought it to do one thing - serve as a POE to USB converter. It has a USB connector on it, but the connector is shaped in such a way that it will not plug into any USB port on any laptop that I have. In other words, it failed in the task for which I purchased it. It might be great at everything else, but it is certainly not a workable POE to USB adapter.

I've used a variety of these adapters for network cameras and other devices like a Raspberry Pi over the years and it is a pretty cool way to power these low voltage devices without needing an outlet near them.

Endlich ein POE Splitter, der zuverlässig funktioniert und nicht heiss wird.

Used this to power a wall-mounted tablet using PoE over Cat6 cable rather than mess with putting up another outlet. It's very well constructed and has been in use 24/7 for over a year with no issues!

Excellent product needs slightly better USB voltage regulation

I have 8 older IP cameras that don't have PoE support. For a while I ran 5 volt DC extension cables to the cameras, but the voltage drop over the extension cables caused the cameras to not work properly. I needed a better solution.I bought a PoE switch and 8 of these PoE splitters. They are nearly PERFECT. My only complaint is that they come in one color (black) while the IP cameras are white. They are easy to set up and do exactly as they describe. Plug in the Ethernet cable (going to your PoE switch) on one end, and plug the power and Ethernet plugs on the other end to the IP camera. Works like a charm. I tried it out on several devices, including a Raspberry Pi and my cell phone (just for charging). No problems at all.

I bought one of these after a less than half price alternative didn't work with the LAN port on one of my Raspberry Pi's, and this worked well. Good email support too from the supplier - I asked if it was going to work and they responded quickly.

DOA, passes ethernet traffic, but that's about it. 0V measured on the output jack...Update 7/7/2013:After talking to Wifi-Texas support, it turns out that the splitter I received is v3. This version works with POE devices implementing mode A (power on pins 1,2 - 3,6), where as both of my switches (and most I encountered) implement mode B (power on pins 4,5 - 7,8).Currently, I am waiting for replacement, v5, which I understand does both. I will update this review when I receive it.Wifi-Texas, please update your description to include the modes your device supports.Update 7/10/2017Received replacement part (V5) - works as advertised. Five stars for good customer service.

I've always wanted a better mechanism to control the numerous automation devices in my home, and the ideal setup always seemed to be having wall mounted control panels; unfortunately most of these suck, or won't integrate well with my Vera based setup like the smart phone iPad apps do. So I decided that I would mount iPads into the wall and use these a fixed home automation controllers, however the obvious issue is how can you power these panels? Removing them to charge, which would be often as I have the devices permanently on was not an option. Searching Amazon I can upon this POe to use splitter and knew that this was the answer. Cat6e is so easy to run in walls and already having a POe network switch this was my answer. It works perfectly, never have I had a voltage drop nor the iPads ever fail to charge, granted they don't charge fast in this setup, but the small voltage passing through the Ethernet is more than enough to keep them at 100%.If you need a remote charging solution for your USB device, look no further this is what you need.
