Like some other reviewers, the hose I purchased retained its coiled shape and did not straighten out. It might depend on how the packed hoses are stored and how old they are.I tried stretching it out next to a fence, attaching a funnel, pouring 3 buckets of hot tap water (135F) through the hose. This helped at first, but when I put it into my 45F pool water, it returned to its coiled shape.I decided to cut the hose into approximately 3 ft. sections connected by swivels. Each section was then more or less U-shaped. With floats and swivels, the sections lay nicely at the surface and do not get into tangles. When the Polaris pulls to the farthest corner of the pool, the U-shaped sections straighten out.Working fine so far.

The price of the product was absolutely out of sight and of course that is why I was not very happy, but the product itself and the quality was there.

I purchased this because my old hose was getting pretty stiff and it’s winter so the sweeper wasn’t doing its job. I don’t know how old my hose was because I bought the house 8 years ago and it was in use. The new hose was coiled up in the box I laid it out to let it straighten out for a day or so. Compared to my old hose it is much softer and more pliable but after installing, the curves came right back and I’m basically right where I stared with my sweeper going in circles. Yes the water is very cold even in California. I’m sure it will be fine in the summer. Just wanted to say maybe best when it’s warm so the hose doesn’t hold a memory but my old hose was fine in the summer also.

My Polaris 380 had been running great and all of a sudden it started to tie itself in knots.I untangled it daily for two weeks. At first,I thought it was due to the cold weather.I pulled the Polaris out of the water and found that the feed hose was very stiff.Every time I flexed the hose,it would break.I ordered two 10' sections of the D-45 feed hose and put them on my Polaris 380.Make sure all the other components are functioning properly on the feed hose as well.I also replaced the floats that were sinking, causing the hose to sag in the water. That's another problem that will cause your Polaris to tie itself in knots. My swivels were in good condition so there was no need to replace them.Anyway, after the replacing the floats and feed hoses, the Polaris is now functioning flawlessly.I highly recommend the Polaris D-45 feed hose from Amazon. It's the best price on the market.

I purchased three of these to replace the hoses on my Polaris that were at least 15 years old. I couldn't believe how flexible the new hoses are in comparison to the old ones. The old hoses were so stiff that the Polaris was constantly getting tangled, stuck in corners, running in circles or driving on its side. Out of frustration, I took the whole thing out of the pool and just vacuumed it myself for a few months till I saw the other reviews on this item.As other reviews have pointed out, my Polaris now works better than I ever remember. It has not gotten kinked or stuck since I installed the new hoses and the pool looks clean again. I found the hose swivels to be a bit difficult to install, but that's because the hose hasn't been expanded before. I used some PTFE lubricant to help assemble them. Some low heat from a blow dryer or heat gun might also help on first assembly to expand the hose a little, but I didn't try that.My only caveat is that you can buy these same hoses on PoolZoom for about $5 less per 10 foot section, but I'm still happy with the price since it's WAY better than buying them from a local pool supply company that has prices bordering on highway robbery. PoolZoom actually let's you pay through your Amazon billing information, but I was not able to use the Amazon gift card I had to make the purchase, so that's why I bought them here. In any event, these hoses were worth the money.

so I guess 5 stars?I don't really know how to review a hose, but yes this is a hose, yes it fit our Polaris 280, yes it was 10 feet long. So I guess it's flawless. Also it did make a HUGE difference in how often our pool sweep gets tangled up, I didn't realize how stiff the old hose was compared to the new one. You'd think a stiff hose would be better at keeping tangles from happening, but that's obviously not the case, I used to have to untangle our pool sweep from itself 3 or 4 times a week, I've only had to do it once since I replaced the hose.Caveat, and it's not really the hoses fault, but I needed 13 feet of hose, so I ended up having to buy two of these but I only used a third of the second one. Again, not the hose's fault that I failed to actually figure out what length I needed before buying, I'm just urging you to measure before you order. I'm pretty sure that even after buying two of these it was still cheaper than buying a new hose from a pool supply store, where everything seems to be Amazon price plus 100% or more.
