This thermometer feels nicely constructed for the price. It takes a few minutes for the temperature to read out, but I checked it against my spa’s thermometer and the temperatures matched. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this for spa use, because it sometimes flips onto its side when the jets are turned up. There’s really no need to leave a thermometer in a spa anyway. It would be perfect in a pool. I am going to use it in my garden pond.

This is a solid floating thermometer. And I do mean SOLID.As other reviewers have said, it's fairly large, good quality, and it's not going to be blending in with the background anytime soon (it's mildly obnoxious floating on my koi pond). The numbers are extremely clear, and visible from many angles. I have seen no fogging of the LCD panels, and I am able to read them from inside my house simply looking out the window. Even in high winds it maintains an even keel on the surface and does not sink or tip. I find myself looking out to see the water temp now just out of curiosity!I am somewhat confused, however, as to if it's completely solar powered, or backed up with a single AAA battery. According to this listing AND the instructions, there's a battery hidden somewhere in it, but for the life of me I can't figure out where (nor could my husband.) It would make sense if there was, given how though it's primarily solar powered it doesn't fade when the sun goes down... so either it's storing up the solar energy, or being assisted by that phantom AAA battery. Either way, it's doing a great job!

The BaldrTherm solar floating Pool Thermometer has worked flawlessly for me. I let the device charge for a couple of days, powered it on and selected Fahrenheit for the temperature type. The temperature display is on both sides and very easy to read. I checked the thermometer against a known accurate one and it was spit on. I left this thermometer in the spa area of my pool and it has managed to stay there. I only wish I had picked one up sooner, rather than fumble with my pool's app. Love the solid construction and solar charging capabilities. Great value for the money. Very easy to use.

I previously had another thermometer for my pool. It worked well, but I had to go find it and look at the top of it from the side of my pool to see the temperature. With this one I can actually see the temp from inside my house. The display is large and the angle of the elevated display is great. You can easily and clearly see it from outside the pool, and in my case, I can see it from inside my house! I love it.

The top display LEDs of the thermometer sometimes work and sometimes don’t, making it difficult to determine the temperature. The documentation is confusing for a couple of reasons:1) It states that there is a 1 AA battery inside, but I apparently cannot change it myself, and no directions are provided.2) The documentation also doesn’t show how to select the temperature scale. If I hold the power button for a moment, the display briefly shows the scale, but I was confused by the information it provides. A picture would be much better.Furthermore, the troubleshooting guide mentions that the AA battery may be depleted, indicating that the display will not work at night. However, as you can see from my pictures, the display did work at one point, but it is incomplete.I have sent two emails to the manufacturer but have not received a response. Overall, I am not satisfied with this pool temperature thermometer.
