Purchased this hand held unit to understand the RF situation around my house. Being in a rural location and wanting certain connectivity means I need to use directional antennas to maximize performance.Solid all aluminum case feels robust in the hand, but not too heavy. Likely wouldn't survive a drop onto a hard surface from standing height, but tough enough to take bumps and dings of regular use. Adapter for BNC is perfect for using other antennas with single sma antenna input. Uses simple on/off switch for power control, and can charge an installed lithium ion battery with a micro-USB cable. To find broadcast locations, it's easy to lookup the towers online to know approximately where to point your antennas but I like to see the actual received signal so I can understand how much antenna to buy (i.e. gain = size) and if amplifiers are needed. The little unit did the trick and could show me received power on broadcast television signals, cell phone signals, and other frequency bands so I could get the best antenna setup and where best to point the antennas, since geography at longer ranges can dictate received signal strength and direction (i.e. multipath).

MF or Medium Frequencies are 300KHz to 3 MHz, HF is 3mhz to 30mhz. these are specifically outside of the the operating range of the unit."Medium frequency (MF) is the ITU designation[1] for radio frequencies (RF) in the range of 300 kilohertz (kHz) to 3 megahertz (MHz).""High frequency is the ITU designation for the range of radio frequency electromagnetic waves between 3 and 30 megahertz."
