Product Description

pulley removal tool

  • 1. Choose the appropriate pulley puller: Based on the size and shape of the pulley to be disassembled, select a puller tool that matches the size and structure.
  • 2. Install the claw of the puller: Install the claw of the puller at the edge of the pulley or at an appropriate disassembly position to ensure that the claw can firmly grasp the pulley.
  • 3. Adjust the center screw: make the tip of the center screw press against the center position of the shaft to ensure that the tension is evenly applied to the pulley.
  • 4. Tighten the screw: Use a wrench or other suitable tool to gradually tighten the central screw, causing the claws of the puller to gradually pull outward, thereby generating tension to pull the pulley out of the shaft.
  • 5. Uniform force application: During the process of tightening the screw, it is necessary to maintain uniform force application to avoid excessive force on one side, which may cause damage to the components or failure of the puller.
  • 6. Check the dismantling progress: Regularly check the dismantling progress of the pulley to ensure smooth operation.
  • 7. Complete disassembly: After the pulley is completely removed from the shaft, stop tightening the screw and carefully remove the puller and the disassembled pulley.
  • It should be noted that when using the pulley puller, the quality and strength of the tool should be sufficient, and safety regulations should be followed during operation to prevent accidents.

This tool can remove power steering pulleys by gripping the ridges on the pulley itself. This is invaluable when a pulley installed backwards. A coworker made this mistake and we spent hours trying to back it out with a 3 jaw puller. I don't ever want to have to do that again. This tool can save a lot of time do the same job without damaging the ridges.

As soon as this arrived I was ready to use it to remove some pulleys from old power steering pumps that had failed, but I didn't dare throw them away because the replacement pumps often don't come with pulleys, so the pulley has to be re-used. It worked great and smoothly pulled off each pulley, all of which were pressed onto the shaft of the pump and a couple of them were rusted in place. Puller was strong enough and removed them all well. Good value and great tool to have around. I recommend.

This thing is a game changer. It's way better than the other pullers we own or have gotten from tool rentals. It's solidly built, well thought out, and makes a tough job a lot easier. I wish we'd had one years ago. Thinking back on several of the most recent jobs where removing a pulley was necessary, this puller would've paid for itself multiple times over in time and frustration.
