When I unboxed the product, I realized one of the knobs were damaged and loose. It turns on for now, but I’ll test if the whole device works properly. If it doesn’t, I will then return it.

I've been using a 3rd-generation Scarlett Solo to record at home with an Audio-Technica AT2020 microphone, and have been very frustrated with the low level of the signal I'm able to get. . . to record anything and hear what I'm doing, I've had to peg the Scarlett Solo's knobs and then amplify the result after recording, usually resulting in some level of distortion, and making it difficult to sing well due to my inability to hear myself properly while doing it.Upgrading to the 4th-generation Scarlett Solo did improve the sound quality of my recordings, but the low signal level was still an issue. . . so I thought I'd add a pre-amp to my chain.Putting the GAP Pre-73 MKIV between my microphone and my Scarlett Solo has elevated my recording process massively; I can use reasonable settings on everything, with plenty of room for more if I want it, and I get crystal clear recordings that are as loud as I want them to be. It's easy to use (just don't forget to turn Phantom Power off when you're done using it), and has catapulted me from making lo-fi demos to turning out studio-quality work at home.
