I ordered this hammer to use for woodworking and I’ve been really impressed with it. It’s very well made and feels super durable. The outer casing is a very firm plastic with just a little bit of tacky softness to it that makes it easy to grip and deliver impacts to your material without damaging it.If you need a dead blow hammer this one is definitely worth considering. It’s earned a spot in my toolbox and I’d 100% order it again.

I got this Schaaf dead blow hammer because I needed a replacement as I am retiring some of my old, worn tools. I do mostly woodworking but use my tools for anything that comes up. This seemed to check all the boxes I was looking for with the size and the ball bearing filled head. The hammer itself is a simple design on the outside but it works quite well. The weight is comfortable, the bearings move freely inside, it is easy to control, and it really packs a punch while hammering. There is no rebound on the impact and it transfers a lot of force while being gentle on the impact surface. The handle grip feels good on my hands and the slightly flared handle base prevents it from slipping out of your hand during use. I also appreciate the extremely bright orange color as it's a lot harder to lose since you can see it from a mile away. I misplace my tools a lot, so that is never a bad thing!Overall this is a quality dead blow hammer and if you're looking for one at a decent value that is good quality and will hold up for a long time, this is a great option.

Great hammer for my purposes — mostly hammering in both little and sometimes bigger plastic stakes I use around the yard. I was especially worried about the thinner ones for small solar lights, thinking they might snap in harder soil, but this hammer drove them all the way in without any issue. It feels solid, doesn’t bounce, and gives just the right amount of force without cracking or damaging the plastic. Definitely a step up from a regular rubber mallet.

This dead blow hammer turned out to be a great addition to my toolbox. I’ve been using it mostly for automotive work and I’m impressed with how much control and power it gives without the usual rebound you get from a regular hammer. The steel shot inside the head really helps deliver force right where you need it, and it doesn’t spark, which is a big plus when working around fuel or sensitive parts. The construction is solid. The unicast body feels really durable and the PVC coating has held up well through repeated use. The grip is comfortable too, even when my hands are sweaty or oily, which is often the case in the garage. It’s also nice that it doesn’t leave marks or damage on softer surfaces, so I’ve even used it on a few delicate jobs without any issues.I love the bright neon orange color because it’s easy to spot no matter how cluttered my workspace gets. At 2 pounds, it has a good weight for serious work without being too heavy to handle with control.Overall, this is a dependable, well-made hammer that’s perfect for mechanics, DIY projects, or even keeping in the truck. Definitely worth it for the price.

Surprisingly good hammer. It has sand in it ( for heft?). Does not damage walls if you are a klutz like me. Recommended.

Feels just like my other dead blow, this one is orange instead of red, and it's less than 20 dollars instead of less than 10 like my other one.

Works well, and the plastic is less likely to cause damage than a metal hammer. It would be nice if the end of the handle was rounded and not squared. I was wearing gloves while I used it, but I could see that being less comfortable if you use it for a while and are holding it at the end of the handle for leverage.
