This is a very nice compass. It's a bit heavy so definitely not for a lightweight enthusiast but it has a lot of really nice features and I like the included case and rope. My intention with this is to develop my map and compass skills and I know this will help with that and more. A great value!

I recently purchased this military compass for my hiking and camping trips, and I'm extremely impressed with its performance. The build quality is excellent; the metal construction feels very durable, and it's definitely built to withstand tough conditions. The lensatic sighting feature is very helpful for accurate readings, and the luminous dial is a lifesaver when navigating at night.

The Queuerpt Precision Military Compass is a solid, dependable tool for anyone who enjoys hiking, fieldwork, or outdoor adventures. It features clear map scales, accurate ranging, and feels sturdy and well-built. The waterproof and wear-resistant design holds up well in rough conditions, and the precision is spot-on for navigation. It’s a bit heavier than basic compasses, but that’s expected from a professional-grade tool. Great for explorers and outdoor enthusiasts alike!

I realized there might come a time where I might need to know where I'm going and I won't have access to a GPS so I got this. This looks very similar to a standard field compass one might get issued but the first thing I noticed was this was much heavier than I remembered (tips the scale over 11oz) so this isn't going to be ideal for people concerned about weight while hiking.I'll chalk the excess weight up to the solid metal construction. The instructions booklet is surprisingly thick and easy enough to read but you should really know how to use the compass before you "need" the compass. The luminiscence is bright in the dark but I'm not sure it will last a whole night without recharging. Operation is straight forward and all the mechanical action moves smoothly. That said you need to understand land navigation (or orienteering) in order to use this compass in conjunction with a topographic map to shoot azimuths (bearings) to known fixed geographic points and triangulate your location. The clinometer is an interesting addition that I could see possibly being useful identifying topographic features. The cord for the neck is adequate but I already replaced mine with paracord just to be safe.If you're interesting in learning landnav/orienteering you'd probably be better off getting one of those cheap plastic compasses and then looking at something like this since it's full featured and it's weight could make it a little cumbersome.Pros:RuggedFeature filledAccurateCons:HEAVYExcess features may confuse new usersBottom Line: A fully featured compass that comes at the expense of weight.

An excellent compass just like the one I had in the Marines.
