the locking mechanism is easy to engage, but a little cumbersome to loosen. the metal seems to be sturdy enough and after un/locking a few times, it stills seems to be just as stiff, which is a good sign.the description mentions it being useful for splinters, but then the image also says to not use on eyebrow hairs, which is really odd for me, because it has to be usable on little hairs in order to be useful for smaller splinters. maybe it's a safety thing for around eyes? i'm not sure, i still tried it on plucking little hairs, and that was not easy because the tips don't get super close together unless you DO engage the lock or get close to it. if only the tips were right up against each other on the very tip, this might solve this issue.
