The metal baseplate and green laser has the trappings of a quality tool, but it isn't. In indoor lighting, the laser if visible on a very flat, white wall about 6 feet away. On a typical floor, which isn't white and isn't as flat, that laser line is only visible on the floor 2'-3' away. The laser is visible on a vertical surface much further away, but it cannot be used as shown in the product photos to establish a long laser line for tile layout. This may speed up the process of snapping chalk lines, but it's not useful by itself.The laser is way too dim for outdoor use if you were thinking about that.The product is adequate for consumer use indoors, but I suspect models that are $20-$25 cheaper would be too. If you don't need long range and precision, you can save some money by going with a similar, cheaper device. If you need long range and precision, or outdoor use, you should look elsewhere.

This is perfect for me. I use it to block my quilts! It helps me square up my damp quilts for a perfect square!! Love it.

It is relatively easy to use yes, but if you were to use this in a construction aspect it wouldn't work great. For example, when lining this up against the trim on the left side of an entryway, the level isn't square. So to make it square you have to use the levels and put pins in the wall, but during construction you don't want to damage walls, so using the pinholes isn't always an option for me, and it's also 3 extra parts to keep track of. The magnets are nice but you don't always have a magnetic surface to attach to. The design would be better if it weren't triangular and was actually square. It would also be better if there were a quick way to line it up, but unfortunately that's not the case. I'm going to try it out a little more before I decide to return it.

I was expecting it to be kind of a garbage item. Glad I bought it. Very sturdy construction. The levelers are large and easy to use. I have not checked the level against the laser yet. The laser is bright and clear. Perfect right angle.

Overall good device. Wanted to use it to check if walls were rectangular. However, it is about 1 degree off which amounts to about 1'' per 8' (if my math is correct). Ended up using the good old 3/4/5 rule which was much more accurate. Otherwise, it is bright and I might use it for other projects in the future.
