Your cart is empty.Cap nuts, or acorn nuts, are hex nuts with a domed top. They cover the end of the bolt tip, which protects the threads and provides a finished appearance. Since protruding bolt tips can catch skin or clothing, use of cap nuts can also help to prevent injury.

The depth is about 11/32 inches. This is about the same as SAE standards. To confirm I fully tightened a bolt, marked with masking tape, removed the bolt and measured the exposed threads. See photos. Overall the nuts appear to be good quality. They will be used outdoors so time will tell if they hold up to not rusting.The big orange box store now carries only their own store brand of some hardware and a lot of it is inferior junk. I rolled the dice and decided to try the Prime-Line brand. I hope they prove me right in making a good choice.
