I recommend this Pro Chaser 400 Watt Power Inverter that plugs directly into the cigarette lighter socket in your vehicle. The Pro Chaser is enclosed in an aluminum alloy casing that is attractive as well as super protective for the internal components of the Power Inverter. It is equipped with fuse protection that in the event of an issue protects your vehicles electrical system and the circuitry of the inverter. On the back of the Inverter there is an AC Power Off/On switch and the venting for the internal fan that helps prevent over heating. The Pro Chaser 400 Watt Power Inverter is well designed making use of the best in inverter technology, it has 2- AC Outlets and 2 -USB-A slots with Power LED indicator and Error LED indicator allowing you to charge 4 items at the same time. This Power Inverter has worked well charging 2 Laptops by way of AC outlets and 2 Cellphones or 2 iPads making use of those USB-A outlets. On trips we plug in the Inverter and the cord reaches to the back seat where we place our devices to charge while we are driving. The Pro Chaser has been a great help charging our devices when we are in remote areas camping and hiking. It has paid for itself in convenience, keeping our devices ready when we need them. I'm happy that we have it available to us.

My first experience with this inverter was positive as I plugged into my accessory jack in the rear compartment of my SUV and was able to charge one of my 20 volt power tool battery packs and used my computer (on charge) for over three hours without issues. I have my powerports set to be operational even when my engine is off. Literally ppug & play with the inverter now mounted on the compartment wallready for next use. I am told my SUV has a monitoring system that shuts down the ports if the battery is drawn down but I believe Iwill not be waiting for automated response from thr car and I will be unplugging before.there is a drained battery as per the provided directions. There were no issues while in use and the exterior aluminum case should protect the device from damage, Note there is a cooling fan that runs almost all the time the inverter is under load. I highly recommend positioning where the cooling fan is not abstructed. The inverter does get warm during use.

A common use of 400 watt inverters are for road trips, home power outages and camping. The inverter connects via a cigarette lighter connector. A lighter-car battery alligator clip accessory is not included. Remember, lighter connectors may not be energized unless the vehicle key is turned to the accessory position. If lighter connectors are not energized, it may be preferable to connect directly to the vehicle battery. A key in the accessory position may have some other vehicle accessories energized which unnecessarily drain the vehicle battery.I tested the two 110-120 volt AC outlets, and the two USB ports - they all worked.Examples of items you can power from a 400 watt capacity inverter are:Lights - make sure bulbs are LED. For example, a 6 watt LED bulb is equivalent to a 40 watt incandescent bulb.PhoneTabletLaptopDesktop computerUSB chargerRouterTVGame consoleElectric blanketPortable fanCPAPBreast pumpBottle warmerCrock potSlow cookerCordless power tool battery chargerA vehicle does not need the engine running to use an inverter. The inverter uses the power stored in the battery. Periodically as the battery drains, the engine will need to be run for a period of time to recharge the battery. The voltage of a car battery should be between 12.2 to 12.6 volts when the engine is off. A fully charged battery falls between 13.7 and 14.7V with the engine running.Below 12V, the battery might still be able to crank over the engine. Under 11.8V, the engine will struggle to start. It will be nearly impossible to start under 11V.You should have a Jump Starter on hand if you drop the battery voltage too low to start the vehicle. The length of time that your battery will last is proportionate to the size of the battery, the load on the inverter, what other loads are running from the battery and if there are any charging sources (such as solar panels) charging the battery.

Let's start off with the basics. This inverter does what it claims to do. You can run low to mid amperage devices through that would normally be limited to alternating current (your vehicle uses direct current). However, I would describe this device as mid-tier. It works well enough if you are running a computer, or even an LCD TV. However, I would not recommend as your primary inverter if you are utilizing it in a camper van or RV setup. Simpler devices (think irons, cooktops, coffee makers) tend to use a higher degree of amperage. While the wattage is the same for these devices as your alarm clock, the amount of power (amps) they draw caan be substantially higher.I say this because I tried plugging in an electric grill and the device got very hot. While it has built-in heatsinks, I don't think it would have lasted more than a few minutes - I didn't bother to find out. This is a good device if you want extra plugs in your vehicle for road-trips. However, with the ubiquity of USB-C type chargers, it's becoming less and less necessary for you to use one of these to keep your laptop powered on the go. Overall I would give it a 90% - good to have, but only for things that draw more power than a modern laptop.

I often have to use my car as my office and I run my laptop as well as some other business tools in there. This is the perfect little power outlet I needed without spending hundreds of dollars for a bunch of power I don’t need.
