Do I need a flamethrower-design to star the grill or a bonfire? Ofcourse not. Am I super glad I have one, and everyone who sees it wants one of their own? Absolutely! The outside is all hard plastic, and it does have the blue camo print on it. The key pieces are stainless steel metal, and the connections are all tight. It feels sturdy and well made. You can screw on those small tanks from stores, or attach one of the larger tanks and really have some fun with it. Pulling the trigger will make a big, hot flame, and the more you do it, the more you WANT to do it. It's fun. Way more fun than it should be. You can really play with this thing and make your friends jealous about stating their grill with a boring match!

This gun torch is really cool. It's mostly made of hard matte plastic other than the gas and hot parts are stainless steel. Despite all the plastic, it does seem pretty solid, and it's really easy to get the propane tank hooked up and get it running. Once you turn on the valve, it lights on the first trigger pull every time. The flame it puts out gets super big and hot. Really great for starting bonfires or charcoal grills, or for a super hot sear on a smoked steak or fast caramelization on a creme brulee. Be the envy of your male friends this grilling season, this torch is totally cool!

I use this mostly while camping and I love pulling it out for lighting fires and searing steaks. It connects to a propane tank, fires up instantly, and the flame is huge. The looks always gets comments and that’s half the fun. It’s built well enough to handle regular use and turns basic tasks into something more entertaining.

Oh, how I couldn't wait to use this to light my fire pit! I liked everything about this tool except how it actually functioned. To turn it on you have to open the valve on top and then pull the trigger. When you release the trigger nothing happens. In order to shut the flame off you close the valve on top. This is not how I expected this item to operate. I expected that once I turned on the gas when I pulled the trigger there would be a sustaining flame and that the trigger would turn the flame both on and off. This is not the way it operates. In that sense it functions just like every other torch, turn the gas on pull the trigger to spark and then shut the gas off.While this obviously works and works well it is much less fun to use than a traditional large handheld torch that I'm familiar with that uses a sustaining flame and turns on and off when you pull the trigger. I understand this would've meant more complexity but that's what I expected because of the price point. The flame does get quite large and quite hot. On an almost empty tank I still got a flame up to 16 inches long. Because I store this item inside I always disconnect the tank from the torch to eliminate the possibility of propane leaking. The overall build quality of the torch is good and it is fun to use. It will definitely light your grill or fire pit. I suppose in some circumstances it could be used to burn weeds etcetera but it is essentially a glorified BBQ lighter. The mother of my children wanted me to include that it looks too much like a toy to be a tool and that puts the burden on you to make sure that no one thinks this is a plaything.

Okay, so let me just say from the go that this is first and foremost a novelty item. The torch concept is not new.....I have several....but fashioning as an assault rifle?.....genius! That said, I wouldn't whip this out at the family cookout or tag along on a camping trip unless intentionally looking to start conversation. Novelty aside, this is a very functional, and well-made torch. The igniter is (for now) responsive resulting in immediate lighting. The entire torch is well-balanced, even with the tank installed. Fuel knob feels a little cheap and has too much play when adjusting. The only other negative is that this doesn't come with adapter necessary to connect to larger tanks. At this price point, it should.
