If you're looking for anything resembling a precision tool, this is not it. The table is not flat so squaring it up every time you switch from a short to a long piece of material is necessary. Don't remove the knobs that adjust the angle of the table to replace the sanding discs, the nuts on the inside will just fall in to the sander and you will need to take it apart to get them out. Not very well though out or built.

The proxxon 10” variable speed disc sander is a piece of junk if you are looking fo a precision disc sander, proxxon took the micro mark sander and added plastic parts to very critical places. The miter gauge top is now plastic, the front housing in also now plastic. If you want a precision sander look at the Byrnes tools, don’t waste your money on proxxon!

nice size with variable speed control, no vibration and a flat disc for the sanding sheets that are interchangeable and coated on the back for fast application.

I had to give this 5 stars because it is exactly what I wanted - 10", adjustable speed, nice easy alignment, easy to use mitre gauge, comparatively quiet, light enough to be portable, rigid design, can be equipped with a water bath, and finally, fun to use. It is Not a 2 hp table sander. It is great for my purposes (kind of a home/garden/studebaker enthusiast). Another wonderful feature is the motor (which is probably standard on all proxxon tools). It supplies power as needed to maintain the set speed - up to the maximum power available - in most cases about 1/8 hp. The pieces of wood in the illustration are a good indication of the capabilities. But it is perfect for plastics, also. Definitely superior to the 1/2 size smaller proxxon sander.I need to add that the service people at proxxon are wonderful.

I purchased this sander to use in scratch building RC aircraft. That involves a fair amount of sanding small balsa and lite plywood parts. The unit appeared to be of high quality, and the ability to run it at slow speeds was important to me.When I received the sander it was well packed and it is in fact nicely made. However, in my opinion the sander is seriously underpowered. I found that even a piece of 1/8" balsa will stall it out if you apply anything but very light pressure. Now, I understand that this is a sander and not a power carving machine, but it should be able to handle thin balsa with no difficulty. I tried sanding a few pieces of 1/2" plywood, and this required an extremely light touch to avoid stopping the wheel. All in all, it is a nicely made machine that would be excellent if they beefed up the motor.
