I'm not sure what the advantage would be having the blades at the downward angle the way they are. It actually became a problem as I was trimming surface root runners underneath the foliage. Cutting blindly, it became difficult to get the open end over the branch by feel. You instictively want to just reach straight forward so it's a little awkward. I suppose by just holding the tool without bending the wrist will align the jaws in a straight manner. Having used regular pruners for so many years I guess it will take getting accustomed to. Probably less stress on the wrist not having to bend it when cutting. They upper blade is very sharp, but then again any new tool would be. Unfortunately, the lower jaw is not sharp but with an eased edge. While it cuts great on any branch, vine, etc. it would not cut all the way through a New Zealand Flax blade (leaf?) but rather folded it over. The flax is very thin with tough fibers and few clippers will slice across cleanly. I end up having to use scissors. I did make it through a 7/8 inch root by rotating the tool back and forth around its circumference while squeezing. I have a strong grip but not enough to make it through that fat a piece of wood in one bite. I've seen too many clippers ruined by twisting side to side for those stubborn cuts - don't do that. No doubt the claimed 1 inch capacity is valid, in certain circumstances. One nice feature is the upper blade is robust and does not need to be reinforced by a handle extension which can be seen in the comparison photo. That extension/reinforcement will get in the way when cutting thicker branches. The Prune Pro keeps the travel of the blade unobstructed for a clean cut.Overall a very good clipper. The grip is good and the lock latch sure, it should prove trouble free. The price is good in comparison to one of the big name clippers I also own. But the reality is the big name doesn't make it through a flax blade either and it's lock latch went south months ago. Plus they lost their handle covers. The Prune Pro with never have a problem with its grips. If I can get used to the downward angle I'll bump the rating to 5 stars.

These pruners surprised me. They are very much better than I expected and that does not happen often. I got a pair of similar pruers last year from an American gardening/ lifestyle? companies, which had a size. adjustment which did not do much, and they were very light duty pruners. My experience with things sold in multiples is that the quality is typically not great. Given the amount I have spent in pursuit of good tools I questioned why I ordered these. It turns out that all of my past experience with sets, plastic pruners, similar looking pruners led me to the wrong conclusion. These are as good as my better pruners, in fact, as good as some of the best.I went out to test these wwith aw few light duty tasks in mind. I deadheaded a rose bush, and ceaned up/ trimmed some of last year's dead growth, branches upwards of 1/2 inch in diameter. It cut them cleanly and could be used, lockedd/ unlocked with one hand. Then I tried trimming a huge Lychee tree ovwerhanging our driveway. It cut dead wood, approximately 3/4" in diameter, also cleanly. I was not just impressed, but my 10 minute quickie test turned into four hours before I knew it. I took ouit trees (several) with these pruners. I think I ordered them. dreading handimng my good prunersa to my husband, who has been known to leave them under a downspout..... until I find them, maybew a year la6ter and rusted through.. That makes ordering in bulk practical. These are very reasonably priced, and also very good, a combination you rarely find. Yes I reccomment giving these a try before you decide that you need very much more expensive tools.

I really like these pruning shears. We have 3 sets so we always have one handy where we are working. They are much better than my expensive brand name ones I got at a big box store. They fit comfortably in the handy and are easy to use. I recently used them to create passionfruit cuttings and was able to quickly and deftly. the knob at the top allows for easy adjustment of the open jaw width. This makes repetitive cuts of similar material quick and predictable. They also have a handy lock to secure the pruners.I cannot say enough good things about these.

I've been an avid gardener for decades and my personal preference has been to avoid prunes with plastic handles because they usually break quickly. Well when these became available on Vine I figured I would try them out and I'm glad I did. These things are very durable and well made. The blade is very sharp and thicker than many I've used in the past meaning it can be sharpened. The plastic/resin material is of medium weight and solid. The slide locks move and lock easily and the adjustable width is a nice feature that helps ease hand fatigue. So happy I took a chance with these and just as happy to have 2 pair of them.

It seems this listing has changed since I ordered it.I ordered a 3-pack, but now it's listed as a "1-Pack". Aside from quantity, the product appears to be the same. These worked quite well to prune some soft branches up to 1 inch in diameter. They seemed to cut very well w/ clean cuts, & not overly difficult, considering the branch sizes & what these are intended for. Even small branches are cleanly cut.The blades are quite sharp & well aligned to ensure a proper cut.Now we get to have a pruning shear in several locations throughout our property, helping to avoid a "Hunt" for where it was left last.Overall, very satisfied w/ this product. We'd recommend & would purchase again.BUT... There's no way I'd pay or recommend paying $20 for a single small pruning shear! That's outrageous.
