I use this ocassionally for .100 inch wire headers. I had to take the cutter off because the headers have blind ends. It was easy to take the cutters off.I bought these and cheaper wire strippers/punches. I have never used the other purchase because these work well. These are still my go to tool after seven years of occasional use. No problems, everything works like everyone said. The hook and flat pick are easy to open. I use solid strand telephone wire. I have used the hook to pick out broken bits when the connector has be flexed one too many times. I strip another 1/8 inch and punch the line back in.I have not tried these on ribbion cable.

Some chisel-tipped punch tools will break certain punch-down setups. This one has a scissor-type cutter that works anywhere. It hasn't failed me yet.

I received this economical punch-down tool to wire my Monoprice 1 X 8 phone module, pictured. I have never used a tool like this before, but the only thing you need to know is that the cutter side of the tool must be toward the open end of the wire so that it will be cut off after it is punched down. If you use the tool backwards, you will cut off the wire that you have just punched down! For the few wires that I had to punch into the phone block, I encountered no trouble with the cutter sharpness and durability reported by other reviewers. It appears to be a very well made tool, and I encountered no trouble learning to use it.

I had been using a 110-style punchdown tool for a piece of equipment in my lab. Using the proper tool (Krone) works a lot better. I would not describe this tool as "industrial grade" but it is a great value for the price.

I work in the telecom industry and found this tool will be quite useful. Just be aware it is not for use on 66-blocks. This can be used on 110-blocks, patch panels, or Ethernet jacks. The tool is light weight and comfortable to hold in the hand. The blade and hook as easily accessed by pushing down a button. I know the hook will coming in handy when trying to grad a small wire with my big hands. The spring action easily cut the wire.I found the tool easy to use and was right for the price. Right now the only concern is the durability, so I will have to wait and see.

I needed to rewire some rooms at home after switching providers, so I thought I'd give this a shot since it was so cheap. It was well worth the buy -- I'd spend a bit more if it were something I were to use every day, but for a project or two, this is perfect.
