Works well for model trains! Larger than a similar unit, but does the job for controlling G scale engines.

Very nice low voltage DC motor speed controller. Has four different modes you can select allowing you to do a slow start up, long startup or just full speed on or off. Also has a momentary option so the motor only runs when the button is pressed. The remote control works great. The ability to add limit switches so the motor will auto stop at the end of a range of movement is very nice inclusion. The instructions are very easy to follow and explain the different modes very well. If you have the need for something like this, this one would be a good choice.

Initially I thought I could use this to control a 24V 120mm fan but I discovered brushless fans typically have an integrated IC which doesn't play nice with this kind of controller. So I hooked up my Fluke to the contacts and confirm that I get 24v, both positive and negative if I reverse it, and I can change the voltage (though very slowly). My main complaint is how lacking instructions this is. If you're used to this style of controller you might know exactly how to use it but I found it rather confusing. The remote just has blank buttons. I can guess the center square is off, but otherwise it's just 4 arrows in the cardinal directions with no labeling at all. The antenna is an old extendable metal type that looks like it came off a radio in 1985. It says it has four modes but you can see on the product description it lists Delay (5s), Toggle, momentary, and Delay mode (15s). But there's only three DIP switches and on the product they're labeled "TMD" - so is it always delay mode but a choice between 5s and 15s? What is toggle? Do I have to hold the remote on? What is the learning mode button, is that for learning a new remote or learning a voltage ramp?I'm giving it two stars because it seems like it might work and maybe a model train enthusiast will easily navigate how to operate it but if they had even bothered to include a paragraph of adequate instructions it would have made all the difference.

These controllers are great for large scale model railroads. They units, once removed from their case) are small enough to fit inside many large scale locomotives. They can also be used to create a battery-controller trail-car for locomotives to small for the unit to fit inside.Range is excellent, granularity of speed control is more than adequate AND they have a 'delay' option to slowly ramp to (or down from ) any last known speed to emulate real world inertia.I have bought six of these units all together. When I discovered a minor bug in the units firmware, the vendor was quick to contact me for more information & fix the issue. For smaller scales &/or track power, these units could easily be mounted track-side to give inexpensive remote control to any scale model railroad layout.
