If you have a UV-5R, and want to stop worrying about your battery level, this is for you! Simply take out your old battery, insert this adapter, plug into a cigarette lighter and your good to go. You'll never worry about a draining battery again, especially in emergencies!

I use this adapter with my bao-fang radio and have no trouble at all. It attaches just like the real battery and the other end plugs into the cigarette lighter slot. The coil cord is long enough to make it convenient to use while driving or as a passenger. Seems to be sturdy enough to last awhile, so I have no complaints at all.

Item: PQIQP store’s Auto-adapter powered Battery Eliminator for UV-5R transceiversPrice: $ 18.99 after vendor 5% discount on 01 14 24As a licensed radio operator for over 40 years, I’ve own many sets of handheld tranceivers. Having reviewed the UV-5R types on Amazon, I have eight of this model-type. And the auto-adapter powered pass-through battery offered by PQIQP replaces the rechargeable battery that typically would power this unit. It’s one way to use a ‘power supply’ in place of a battery. Years ago, my handhelds had ‘power supplies’ that plugged into the bottom of the radio. You didn’t have to remove the rechargeable battery. If you have or currently use a transceiver like this in your vehicle, you know that it’s best to have an ‘always available at full voltage-amperage’ on-demand power source. I say that in light of you wanting to use your radio on its high-transmit power setting whenever possible and even if you're using a power-amp on your final. That demands the most amount of current. So obviously, having a constant, reliable power source is best. Years back when I’ve purchased handhelds I always purchased an auto power supply. It’s an accessory I’d highly recommend.

Unfortunately, I did not carefully read the description, so my fault not the merchant. I have a Baofeng UV-5R and a UV-5R Pro so this battery eliminator is only for the UV-K5 UV-k5(8) UV-5R Plus models. Not sure what I was thinking Plus or Pro. Again, not for Baofeng UV-5R and a UV-5R Pro and I will be sure I pay better attention to the description. This is a great concept as I got my second Baofeng so I did not have to keep moving it from the truck to charge. I keep one in my office and one in the truck full-time. Wish I could offer more, look like a decent adaptor but unable to offer more. Fast shipping

Be aware, the wire comes out the bottom, so you cannot stand the radio up with this adapter. But if you are using a battery clip or a stand of some type then you will be fine. Perfect for keeping your radio up and running while in your car (or wherever you have 12 volts to keep it running).

This device is a "battery eliminator" which means you slide your usual Li-ion battery from your transceiver, and plug in this device in its place. Once the car adapter is connected to a power source (which for many probably means your vehicle's engine must be running) the radio can be powered up and used normally. The car adapter does not separate from the battery, meaning that it can not be used to charge your Li-ion batteries.
