About this item

  • Metal Double Claw: The claws are made of heavy duty metal hooks. This design is more suitable for outdoor trash cans with only brim and no push rod, such as Galvanized Steel Round Trash Can. The metal claws are made of reliable polyurethane fibers and rubber, which are not easily broken or worn.
  • No Tools Needed: This trash can lid lock adopts a screw free design, which does not require tools for installation. Simply thread the non elastic nylon strap through the stainless steel buckle and secure the double claws to the edges of both sides of the trash can, and use the buckle to easily open or lock the trash can (please refer to the video).
  • ANIMAL-PROOF AND WIND RESISTANCE: It can effectively prevent large animals such as bears, as well as small and medium-sized animals such as raccoons, javelins, skunks, opossums, squirrels, rats, birds, dogs, and cats from approaching your garbage. It can also withstand strong winds overturning your trash can without worrying about messy garbage.
  • HIGH QUALITY MATERIALS: Our garbage can lock is made of stainless steel, which ensures the rust prevention performance of outdoor garbage can. The non deformable nylon strap effectively ensures the firmness of the garbage can, preventing animals from biting and chewing. It is sturdy and durable to ensure the cleanliness of the yard.
  • ADJUSTABLE STRAP: The nylon strap can be adjusted to the appropriate length by pressing the lock buckle, so that it can be tightly locked onto the trash can without leaving any gaps for animals to enter. This design is very suitable for all types of outdoor trash cans, making it more widely applicable.

Easy to assemble the ratchet strap, it works great on garbage cans with slender handles. Quick spring release to remove. The strap is sturdy, well stitched for its purpose. Smooth ratchet action.

This is basically a short cargo tie-down strap with hooks on the ends and works the same way to tighten/loosen. My can (see pictures) doesn’t have side handles like you see in the product listing pictures but it’s short enough that I could clip the straps to the bottom lip. If you do clip to side handles, be careful as the ratchet is plenty strong enough to bend the handles. My prior method to keep the racoons out of my bird seed was to attach bricks to the lid (see picture) but even that sometimes didn’t do the job. Racoons aren’t just smart; they are strong too! Now I think I’m winning, so long as they don’t chew through the nylon strap.

These are great for metal cans, I would not recommend these for the plastic/rubber cans. Easy to install and only takes a couple of minutes. Simply attach the strap end to one side of your can and work it into the ratchet, pull snug and give it a click or to. Be careful as all ratchet straps are easy to over tighten and you can damage your cans. These work well and definitely keep the lids down to prevent loss from wind, or critters getting into the trash.

The Paselsaky Trash Can Lid Lock isn’t the best ratchet mechanism I’ve ever used - it doesn’t work as smoothly as some - but it does work. Holds the can lid down tight. The claws look and feel like black metal, but the Amazon product page says they are "made of polyurethane fibers and rubber”, so perhaps they won’t rust. I have metal cans with the standard wire bale handles; the claws grab them very securely. If you aren’t familiar with ratchet straps, watch the video for assembly guidance. It is short, but useful. Don’t make the mistake that I did. Pay attention to which way the claw is facing when you slip the strap into the buckle. The claws should face each other. The product page says the ratchet is made of stainless steel. Doesn’t look like it, but time will tell. And it will depend on the grade; cheaper SS does rust eventually. The strap is the weak link in the trash can lock. My squirrels can chew through just about anything, and I don’t think these straps will slow them down at all. I haven’t noticed them hanging around the can, but raccoons try to get in all the time. I don’t know if raccoons will chew through nylon. Hope they don’t strike an agreement with the squirrels or I may have problems (and later, squirrel stew). There is no information about where the straps are manufactured, but the seller is listed in Quangdong, CHINA.

This strap fits perfectly over my small metal trash can that I store bird seed inside of. Squirrels are crafty little creatures and are able to get into almost any type of container if they smell food, as do possums and skunks and this strap secures the lid and thwarts their attempts easily.

This makes a tight seal for the garbage cans. feels tight enough for raccoons but I don't know about bears. It's definitely not going to keep the squirrels out but so far they haven't tried to chew through it. Working so far.

I've been using a bungee cord to keep the lid on the can that holds my extra cat food out in my barn. Either I have another racoon or the cats have outsmarted the bungee. This simple strap has proven cat and or racoon proof. The best part for me is the ratchet for tightening it up. I can get that sucker tight enough that even the clever racoon can't get it loose to break in. Love it!!!!
