I bought these because I am making a rather large king size quilt and thought they may be good to keep all the material in check. I was a bit disappointed as they do not hold much material and are not that flexible, but I will see how I get on.

These helpers are perfect for sewing quilts or any large item. I attached painters tape to them to hold them in place better as they can slide off the edge (my ironing board isn't long enough). Why didn't I know about these before???

I suffer from severe whiplash so when I try to wrestle a large quilt through my domestic machine it causes me a great deal of physical pain and way more stress and frustration than anybody ever needs. I finally got these clips and they work so well, I'm kind of kicking myself for not getting them sooner than I did. They're super easy to use, and they keep your quilt rolled up exactly the way you put them in place. It's such a simple solution to a problem that is a literal pain in the neck. I'm so glad I got these and highly recommend that anyone who struggles to get their quilts (or other projects) through the throat space of their sewing machine to just go ahead and get these and put an end to their suffering already.

The image shows a 108-inch king-size quilt sandwiched together with Hobbs Premium Polydown wadding (about a quarter-inch loft) and a polycotton backing, rolled up halfway to allow me to sew the middle. My sewing machine is a normal domestic one and you can see that the roll fits easily through the throat of the machine. A slight negative is that they slip round a bit with handling and would perhaps be better if the roll was fatter. Nevertheless these clips do hold the roll in place and are worth using; I doubt I could comfortably get the bulk of the quilt through the throat without them.

My sewing machine has a very small throat, so it is difficult to feed even a medium-sized quilt through when I'm doing my machine quilting. These clips make it much easier by allowing me to roll up my quilt and holding it securely in place. This condenses the bulk of the quilt and makes it so much easier to work with. I had looked at other options (bicycle clips, for one), but these are wider and hold more securely, plus they are more reasonably priced. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

These clips hold a large quilt very well. But I found that as I quilted, the rings would get caught on my sewing table edge and created a drag. Now you expect a certain amount of drag but almost Every Time it was because a ring was caught on the table edge. The rings hold the quilt very well. Good gripping power. And very easy to snap on. But the drag......

These are very good at keeping the thickest part of a quilt held tight, so if you are stitching vertically they are excellent, I stitched diagonally so ok in the middle of the quilt but not so good towards the narrow ends.But good value for the money , no regrets purchasing.
