The trigger is horrible, they put a safety toggle on the trigger which is very uncomfortable when cleaning fish, also the reciprocating knife is much slower than the old style

This fillet knife has the smallest, most difficult to use trigger. One needs a tiny finger to engage it. Definitely a poor design compared to previous versions.

I have used the previous model Rapala cordless knife for years with no problem. So I thought I would upgrade to the heavy duty model. The first time I used it I found the power switch is hard to activate and is a real PIA when trying to clean fish. You have to pull back on the safety before you can depress the button. The location of the switch makes it awkward to operate especially if you have large hands.When I was done using this knife for the first time the blades would not release so I could remove them. I had to take the knife apart to depress the release the blades. I found that the both of the plastic extensions on the switch were broken. I thought ok I can buy that release switch and it will be good. WRONG You cannot buy parts.Unfortunately I purchased this knife as a backup to the previous model so I did not open it up and use it for over a year after I purchased it so the warranty had expired. $109 spent on a junk knife.Rapala's new improved version was all marketing but the product does not live up to the Rapala brand.

This is a good knife for larger fish but it's can be a struggle for pan fish. The safety switch, along with the large grip, is hard to deal with.I gifted this to my fishing buddy and these are his feelings.
