I love doing stars this way! I can make all sizes and they are accurate and easy to do. There is a learning curve but careful reading of their directions makes them so easy. Like potato chips you cannot make just one.

This is absolutely one of the best products I have ever purchased. This ruler, along with easy instructions, makes the most perfect stars every time. I made these same stars using the paper piecing technique, andusing this ruler is by far an easier and quicker way with the same results. Before finding this ruler, I followed a video on making these stars using a different method and I wasted 2/3 of the fabric to get one star. This method only wastes a few small scraps of fabric. I would recommend watching the video by this inventor of the ruler as well as reading all instructions before making your first star. Very worth the money I spent! I will be looking to purchasing other products from the creator of this item!!!

I confess, I do have a slight obsession with tools to aid in my quilting. I like things that make my job easier and help me create without creating stress. I started working on an Edyta Sitar quilt called Stars Upon Stars and spent a weekend patiently making Lemoyne Stars with their dreaded Y seams. It wasn't too bad doing it the traditional way but I realized it was taking way too much time to be accurate and get the look I was going for. I thought there was a better way and Deb Tucker once again came to save the day. I watched the YouTube demo and thought: Yes!!! I need this. The directions are perfect so make sure you follow them. Don't think you can figure it out without reading, the instructions make it simple. I made two sample blocks last night after receiving it ans both came out perfect. And I mean perfect points, perfect seam allowances, perfectly matches seams, and perfect size without any fudging. I made the 3" blocks pictured with ease and was even able to do some stripe matching on the background that I find really pleasing. This tool is the real deal. Do not hesitate. It makes your work look better and saves you time and frustration. Go for it!

I like this ruler because it allows great accuracy and eliminates inset seams. Matching the center will still be a challenge when sewing together both halves. The instructions could have suggested starting in the center and sewing one direction, then repeating in the other direction to get a good match when working with half stars. Unfortunately the ruler results in more fabric waste than making Lemoyne stars the conventional way due to the amount of trimming needed. With fabric at $12 or more a yard, the ruler will make your projects more expensive. The extra trimming takes extra time so the term "Rapid Fire" in the name is misleading. Also, when making very small stars (ex.3" finished size) trimming becomes challenging due to bulky seams causing the ruler to slip and tilt. Even with that challenge, using this ruler is the only way I would consider making very small Lemoyne stars. In summary, if you can master inset seams, you will save fabric and time- you don't need this ruler. If you are intimidated by inset seams or want to make small stars, you will find this ruler essential.

First off, you have to be almost perfect when sewing strips and have a consistent scant 1/4 seam. I wud suggest pinning everything, even when sewing the initial strips. This tool is good for trimmng down each unit to be consistently the same size as all the other units. Note: when using this tool be mindful to align all the diamond lines as exactly as you can get them along with making sure it the center line lines up centered. As with most of her templates, you can up the size a bit to make sure you have enuf wiggle room when trimming. I increased my background fabric strip size by 1/2 -3/4 inch bigger that allowed which gave me a generous 1/2 inch seam allowance all all four sides of the block. It is critical (when piecing the units of this star) to always pin, pin and pin to make sure all the points line up. The more accurate your seam and piecing, the better your star comes out. I now have the ability to make perfectly looking and I dare say professional looking lemoyne stars. Another beyond good template and technique by Deb Tucker. The picture below is the result of many tries always using this template along with using Clover fine quilting pins to ensure accuracy. I would recommend Clover flowerhead fine quilting pins with all her templates.
