Known for their disease resistance and adaptability, Red Pontiac Potatoes are also tolerant of a variety of soil types and growing conditions, ensuring a reliable crop year after year. Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just starting out, Red Pontiac Potatoes are an excellent, low-maintenance choice that delivers delicious results with every harvest.

About Seed Potatoes: Seed potatoes produce potatoes that are an exact clone of the mother seed potato. Seed potatoes are not the same as true potato seeds, which are seeds harvested from the berries of potato plants. True potato seeds will not produce genetically identical potatoes to the potato plant. Growers grow from seed potatoes to ensure the desired qualities (disease-resistance, high-yields) of a potato is passed down.

Very unhappy with the quality. I purchased one set and they came wet and mushy.I thought this was just a bad batch and decided to order another set. This time the potatoes were even worse. They were so soft I couldn’t pick them up in the netted bag.I will not be ordering from this company.

I’m thrilled with my Red Pontiac and Yukon Gold potatoes growing in 5-gallon buckets on my patio, perfect for my zone 6b/7a short season. The potatoes arrived with dirt on them, which prevents drying and preserves beneficial bacteria. The Yukon Gold bag had slight moisture, so I sprayed them lightly with 3% hydrogen peroxide and let them dry without rinsing as a precaution against unwanted bacteria. This is my first time planting food, and the plants are thriving in containers—I can’t wait to harvest!✅Plant date: 4-17-25Bucket 1: Yukon Gold (brown skin color)Bucket 2: Yukon Gold✅Plant date: 4-19-25Bucket 3: Red Pontiac (red skin color)✅Soilless Mix Homemade - based on James Prigioni’s recipe on YouTube🔹3:2:.5:.5 ratioCoco coir 3 (5gal buckets)Mushroom compost 2 (5gal buckets)Vermiculite 0.5 (5gal buckets)Perlite 0.5 (5gal buckets)I did half because I only had one 40lb / .75 CF bag of mushroom compost, and it filled one bucketCoco coir 1.5Mushroom compost 1Vermiculite 0.25Perlite 0.25This halved mix was enough for 3 buckets.✅Nutrient mix per 5-gallon bucketSOP - 1/2 tsp (2.25 g)FeSOHO - 1.5 tspBone meal 1/4 cupShultz (10-12-12) 1 TBSBlood meal 2 tspKelp 2 TBSThis nutrient mix is good for plants requiring nitrogen in the early growing stage. For instance, it’s not good for carrots.🛑It’s not a good fertilizer mix to use every 2-3 weeks on container potatoes because the nitrogen is too high.✅Use a liquid water-soluble fertilizer every 2-3 weeks until foliage turns yellow, usually two weeks before harvest. Fish emulsion, Morbloom 0-10-10, or any water-soluble fertilizer with very low N and high PK ratios should work.✅Layering indeterminate potatoes - based on Gary Pilarchik on YouTubeI did 2 potatoes on the bottom and 3 towards the top.🛑Don’t do this with determinate potatoesWalmart: Food grade bucketsDollar tree: colorful baskets for drainage
