I'm not a big fan of this style valve seal, especially for lower end things like small engines. They're harder to work with than the all rubber ones with the metal spring bands around the outside to retain them. Those are lot more tolerant of small changes in the valve guide outer diameter, and with the recent changes those old style rubber ones have had in the design of the rim that contacts the valve stem, they work just as well as the new stuff. I have a set on my tractor engine that I recently rebuilt because I had similar issues pressing on the factory ones and it uses absolutely zero oil with the old school stuff. These metal ones can get hung up if something is off by half a thou, which is what happened here. I only did one intake valve on the one Briggs head that had an issue on my v-twin and it took two tries to get one pressed on using my arbor press without destroying it. The first one was perfectly straight from what I could see and everything was stable but it just taco'd anyway. Second one I had to heat up with a heat gun before pressing, and it barely made it. I was worried about getting it too hot and damaging it, but now that it's on it works fine. Cleared up my oil consumption issue.Briggs & Stratton: This isn't a 7000 RPM 4-banger. It's a 3000 RPM lawnmower engine. Stick with the old school stuff please. Probably cheaper to source too.Backyard mechanics: See if you can get a measurement for your valve guides and stems, then track down something built before 1995 or so that uses the old school all-rubber valve seals of that same measurements. Much easier to work with.

Had a problem with the order delivery. They responded immediately to my query and made it right. I was surprised, and impressed. Seals worked as expected.
