I recently purchased a rivet nut tool and decided this was a great set of various rivet nuts. These are the yellow zinc coated carbon steel nuts so watch moisture areas so they do not corrode or rust. They feel like great quality and when you compress them they stay and hold very well. I tried a few and the crush pressure is less than stainless steel but not too light that you would be concerned of their holding ability. These are a great set with one exception. The plastic case as others have stated arrived damaged with cracks and a piece broken out. I would plan on transferring these to a different case for long term storage if needed. The case could be a better quality plastic since they did wrap it in a bubble wrap package but delivery carriers are oh so hard on packages in plastic or paper bags which Ama-zon is using more and more. The nuts did not fall out on my case but the case is definitely damaged and eventually will let some out as it is moved around more and more. The case does not impact the rivet nut quality but is part of what you paid for, so I mention it here. I would order this again and recommend it to others. The seller was very helpful and addressed the broken case so I give this a full 5 star rating despite the case damage. Any issues be sure to contact the seller they were very concerned and helpful with great communications very prompt to respond.

This rivet nut set has a good variety of nuts- BUT is particularly heavy on smaller 3mm (120) & 4mm(80) which account for 200 pieces- so Keep that in mind! 5mm (50 ) & 6mm(46) account for another 96 pieces & 8mm(24), 10mm(30), 12mm(20) make up the last 74 pieces for the total of 370. That said this is great set if your lacking small rivet nuts and find you use them alot - I do and was happy to find a set that offered higher number of the smaller nuts while replenishing my larger ones at smaller numbers. This set also has 12mm rivet nuts UNLIKE - the smaller 170 variety box Askway sells that box offers 3mm(35), 4mm(50),5mm(30),6mm(20), 8mm(15), & 10mm(20). If your just getting started with rivet nuts and unsure exactly what your use will entail the smaller box offers a good number of each with out overloading too much of any particular one. This larger box, I feel, is more geared toward a user who knows they need a bunch of smaller rivet nuts. I use these alot in lighting customizations. Also the smaller nuts are great for repairs to sheet metals that have stripped out holes that were made with self tapping screws - they offer a much better long term solution to sizing up , which generally ends in a larger striped hole. In my opinion self tapping screws have no business tapping metal without something solid behind it! They just are not made to work this way - yet I see it all the time while I'm repairing things people have tried to fix 😞 All of these rivet nuts are made for gripping thinner material's- the there are rivet nuts out there that.have the ability to grip thicker material's-stated as grip range ( I think ) the key to knowing which is which is in the area between the outer ring and the ribbed area . The ribbed area will compress becoming the "ring" on the opposite side and the smooth area behind it contains the threads for your new fastener to bind into. So the throat (area between the ribs and the outer ring plus a certain amountcof the ribbed area ) is the thickness of the material you can fix them into. ( NOTE- IF your material is too thick the ribbed area will not compress enough to make a good backing ring that grips which is the second reason for the ribs - they become teeth that grip the back side to keep the rivet nut from spinning when you screw into it!!) That said if a material is very thin and can't get a good grip on it backer washers are sometimes used to make the material thicker for a more solid grip. If you need to set rivet nuts in thick metal or rounded metal surface (ie. Tubes) you will want to find a deeper throated rivet nut than either of these sets 👌 This 370 set and the 170 set are great for THIN MATERIALS and some layering of THIN MATERIALS! This is the most common use of these types of nuts since thin material Can NOT be threaded. ~1-3 layers of sheetmetal (depending on the gauge of course!! ). IF working with thicker material's threading is an option or you will most likely need to buy single size packs with the larger grip area - I have yet to find SETS w/ deeper grip area myself. These are often stated in a range of mm's For very thick material's a different kind of compression nut & tool type is needed or a rivet gun . Hope this helps ! I had a rough time finding info on all of this stuff when deciding to order my Rivet nut tool! It actually ended up NOT working for the reason ordered , BUT, has become a very useful tool! I can't say I regret ordering it! On the original project that prompted the purchase (putting a metal school bus type ceiling into a 1975 Gmc classic motor home) I ended up buying a pneumatic rivet gun fyi. (The aluminum frame was too thick and space to restrictive for rivet nuts) 😉. Good luck out there!!

While I didn't expect to get a top of the line private not gun I understood that this product came with a tool to use the assorted pieces. Since I received no tool I don't have anything to install it with and therefore they're no use to me at this point. I suppose I'll look and buy a rivet nut gun but when I clicked on the picture it showed a tool in the picture designed to install the nuts. Apparently it's an option to buy as a bundle but was unclear in the original product description. It looks like it's now been updated to reflect the option to bundle this set with a tool.

I primarily use these in plastic objects (ABS, Polypropylene, PET) and they work great! The only caveat, and this is due to the material that you are using them in - not due to the material the rivet nuts are made out of, is that you need to be careful with the pressure you apply when installing them. Too much pressure and you'll crack the housing but too little pressure and they won't stay in.I have also used these in aluminum and they work perfectly for that as well. There is a bit of an art to the amount of pressure you need to apply to properly seat them in the material you are using them in, but once you get the hang of it you can install them fairly quickly. The material these are made of appears to be good; I haven't had any fail on me yet, though I have ran into one that didn't have the threads cut all the way through and another that had metal burrs on it from manufacturing. Neither of these prevented the nuts from working.I won't hesitate ordering these again when I need more, especially since the price is very reasonable.

This is a great complete set. One issue was the thread pitches weren’t marked, I went ahead and did all that and marked them on the box and the picture shows it for you. very happy with the set , and a great compliment to my existing set. I’ve got a smaller setter unit and a large 16 inch one so I’m covered for many years, I just have to find projects that use these . The first picture basically shows me testing them. The two small ones you can see on the left. Is the one in the set on the right is the ones that came with my big set not quite as good as quality as you can see how kind of uneven, but that’s not a big deal just the wall thickness seems to be a little different or the metal. I know it’s not fair as it has no back plates to hold it in place but it’s the one is uneven, and the other one is a little bit more even around with no backing plate.
