This works well.... I got tired of hearing bumps in my audio every time I moved something on the camera, or pan the camera by touching the handle or hang my headphone on the tripod handle...this took care of it.

Great holder that perfectly first camcorders with a tubular non/suspension mic grip (for instance the Panasonic DVX200). The mount is quite large and lifts the mic up about an inch above the generic holder - which helps keep a windshield out of frame. Two additional rubber suspension bands are also included. The mount itself is constructed from fairly rough plastic a steel tube. Fairly expensive for what it is but it's fairly niche so to be expected.Recommended.

I bought this to free my hot shoe for an on camera light, using the camera's mic holder with this to still achieve the same shock mounted mic affect. The Shock mount is a little heavy to be used in conjunction with my camera's microphone holder, causing the whole system to be right heavy and wobbly. Decided to put the on camera light off to the side with a hotshoe extender instead. Overall does what it's supposed to just not with my setup.

The NTSM5 works well with my NTG1 mic, but I still found I needed a bit of foam padding to secure it in the microphone holder on my Canon XH A1 camera. The thicker end is too big and the round smaller end slightly too small. But a small bit of foam solved the problem. Does a really good job of removing all handling sounds on the camera from the mic.

I bought the Rode SM-5 mount to use on my Canon XHA1s camcorder with a NTG-1 Rode mic. With a Dead Cat windshield, the hairs were visible in the frame (wide shots) because the on-camera mic mount isn't tall enough. So the SM-5 solved that issue for me.
