First of all, as another customer said, the armillary arrived with a screw missing. Finding the right brass screw is well-nigh impossible. I couldn’t find one, so I settled for a steel screw, which, as it turned out, didn’t fit. What’s more problematic is that the armature doesn’t fit securely into the base, so the globe lusts to the side. Nothing exactly functional, nor attractive. All this tells me a lot about the manufacturer’s quality assurance, and what it says isn’t good. In addition, there were no instructions for assembly; just a photograph, so it was trial and error figuring out how to assemble it.

I have to admit I was a little disappointed. It was solid metal but unless there in a new type of brass that is silver it was not brass. You see in the comments it said that it would fit the Rome pedestal which I had...... It did not.... the Rome pedestal has a cross bar at the top with a much larger bolt than the 1/4 bolt inch bolt that attached to the base. A trip to the hardware store found some things that would make a successfully work around but, in the process, I scratched the finish, and a silver base metal was underneath. The description also said it was functional... this is ONLY FOR ONAMENTATION. There is no way it could work. However, a broken watch is correct twice a day this would only be correct once a day and only and you had it pointed the right way.

This is a lovely armillary. I looked at several before deciding on this one. If you love classical garden design, this is something you will find delightful. However, one star deducted because it was missing several nuts and a screw. Luckily, our local hardware store had them. Now that the weather is getting better, we’ve put it out in its intended spot, awaiting some new mark, and I couldn’t be more pleased!

Out of all the things decorative I’ve bought on Amazon, I must say I love this sun dial the most. 6 lbs. of solid brass (to my surprise, so it says), beautiful in any lighting, nice Roman numerals detailing, very shiny and very easy to assemble. 6 screws. If you can turn a Phillips screwdriver clockwise, you most likely can put this together.I actually got this to tell time accurately. (+ - 20 min. Ha!)STRONGLY RECOMMEND

Sundial is very well made. It was easy to put together. Had to find my cities latitude but that was easy on line. Adjusted the arrow to my latitude pointed it due north and it was good to go! Now I have to make a pedestal for it. Its a very nice addition to my garden!

It should be clear that this "sundial" used as a lawn ornament only. The calibration of the hour markers are off by 12 minutes making it unusable as a sundial. I should have known when the item does not contain any instructions on how to set it up for your location. I know how to do this from other sources but the misplaced hour markers make it useless.

Our new armillary was nice & shiny out of the box. We knew that sitting in the garden that it would weather, but after only one rain, it lost all of its luster and even took on a little rust! (brass?) We still like it & it is a nice addition to the garden.
