I have not had good success with this flare tool, the inside face of the flare is rough and doesn’t always seal no matter how tight you spin the nut on, and it’s fairly difficult to turn even on 3/8” soft copper. I wish I could return but I had it sitting around too long before I used it

This flaring tool is great for my line of work, the flare on the tubing is a bit tricky if you are not used to these tools, I would recommend practice on some piping before making a permanent joint so you are familiar with tool, ( a tool is only as good as the user) I am pleased with the build and functionality of this tool I would recommend this product for anyone who is looking for a good tool for the money

I purchased a flaring tool from the local Ace Hardware. Truly a piece of junk. When tightening the flanging mechanism, the pipe would simply push away. This tool is the real deal! It "bites" the pipe perfectly. Gotta love the engineering. Simply reinforces the notion that you should always buy nice tools. They make the work so much easier and effective.

I initially thought I received a used product as it was a little banged up. The packaging is not tight so the tool moves around alot. Not a big deal, really. This tool is by far the best I have ever used for flaring lines. Excellent job every time. The tool grips the line tight with its unique design and does not slip. There is no gauge to indicate how far to let the line stick out for flaring, nor a stop to tell you when to stop. BUT, after a couple flares this tool if very forgiving and you will get the hang of how far to go. I have used it for installing mini splits, and have done dozens of flares with it. Excellent tool for hobby or professional in my opinion.

Tool works - makes a nice flair - but no it doesn't have a clutch and there is no stopping point to keep you from making too thin a flair. Not for R410, and high pressure systems.

A unique arrangement allows for continuos grip adjustments unlike the usual flaring tool which depends on accurate machining of a split die. As a result the grip is secure for all diameters within the range of the tool. The flares are clean and symmetrical. My only nit pick is that the pipe tends to get marked by the gripping plates. This only matters to people like me who use copper pipe to make jewelry. For plumbers this is not an issue. I am very happy with this tool.

this is a real review, I bought this item for full priceWOW is all I can say... I broke a "heavy duty" flaring tool I bought at local box store so I decided to give this one a try instead of getting another split block tool. The flare comes out amazing every time, perfectly smooth and shiny. The trick is to know how much to tighten it and to leave off about 1/16" to 1/8" above the silver outer edge of the tool. I used this to flare some really thick 5/8 tubing for my mini split (same tubing that broke the "heavy duty" tool), thick 1/2, 1/4, and some regular thickness 1/2 and 1/4. All turned out perfect. The other advantage of this one over the split block is that the split block leaves two lines on the outer part of the flare where the two pieces meet which I think makes a weaker connection when you tighten it since the nut will be pushing against those two bumps instead of a perfectly even surface (higher potential of a leak). Now that I know how well this tool works I would never buy any other style of flaring tool

Its compact. Easy to use and requires less effort than traditional flarimg blocks. I use mine frequently for work and couldnt be happier. The only down side is that it doesnt come with any instructions. However, if you've ever flared anything before you can quickly figure it out. But for a first timer it could be hard to know how much tubing to have in the block before attempting a flare. I just make mine flush or just a smidge under flush with the outside frame of the flaring block and the come out beautiful every time. Everyone at work now wants one. Fastest and easiest flaring tool ive ever used.

I made some nice flares for my mini split A/C installation with this tool. I did practice on some spare tubing before the real deal. It takes a little practice to get a really perfect flare and how wide to flare requires some judgement but the tool is well made and for the cost it is really great. It has a beautifully polished flaring point and the clamp is secure so the tube does not slip. There is no bottom die so how much to flare is a judgement call.
