Just throw the instructions out as soon as you get them because they're effectively useless. Wrong hardware info, wrong tool info, wrong installation directions, and to top it off, it uses blurry black and white photos. Made a 10 minute job into a 30 minute one since I kept getting the wrong tools out and doing the wrong thing with them.It works fine now that it's actually installed, but considering this was about 50% more expensive than similar tailgate assists, you're better off spending your money elsewhere. All you're paying for is the "Rough Country" logo on the side of the product.

The product I received was definitely opened and probably tried to install by someone then returned by the looks of it. But with that said I was able to install and it works as it should. If I had received it in an unopened and new state as I had purchased I would give it 5 stars.

Junk bought for a 24 Dodge ram and the bottom pulled out of the tailgate after proper installation and the locking clip also broke.

Easy to install, good value, almost a year and still working as expected. You do have to drill into the bed, which wasn't ideal.

Was an easy install even without the nutsert tool and it works and looks great. Rough Country has a video on YouTube on how to install the nutsert without the tool.Just a FYI.The instructions say that the tork bit for removing the cable support is a T-47, but the one on my truck was a T-45. The 17/32 drill bit was almost big enough, but used the supplied bolt, screwed it completely into the nutsert and use a rubber mallet to giver it a a little friendly push. The supplied nut needed a 11/16 wrench to hold it. I also spray painted the drilled hole with a krylon paint (not supplied) and waited about 30 minutes to install the nutsert.
