I didn't realize how worn out my old gas struts were until I replaced them. I use to push up on the trunk lid the last few inches for it to fully open. Now, the lid flies open and even takes a some effort to close. I removed the old strut by removing the two clips with a small flat screwdriver, cleaned the two pins with solvent, applied a small amount of grease to the strut mounting points and snapped them on. I also sprayed each of the hinge points on each bracket with WD-40. I'm very happy with this purchase. I highly recommend.
