It won't last for years but it gets the job done for either beginning play and figure out whether you want to learn long-term or getting back into practice for cheap. I am using this mandolin for the latter. I haven't had one for more than four years and I just wanted to get back into practice without spending alot of money.I've had it for a few months now and haven't played it much but I am starting to notice problems with the tuning already; weird ones too. I've been having problems with my g strings in particular. Once I've tuned them and I let them sit for a moment — not even a full minute sometimes — they start to go significantly sharp. It is enough that I don't have a choice but to re tune them. I've found that if I tune a tiny bit flat they'll even out a bit better but it's alot of trouble. The factory string are surprisingly decent. I haven't felt the need to change them yet. They still have a good and despite not playing much they still feel good under the fingers after leaving them sit for a few days. The overall tone of the mandolin is a little better than you might expect for such a cheap mandolin but it doesn't project sound quite as much as I would like and neither does it sustain much.It should be okay for learning but make sure you get a good tuner with it.Edit: I figured you what was wrong with the tuning and it's a fairly simple fix. The nut was just gripping on the strings a bit too tightly so using a bit a of graphite as lubrication occasionally fixes the problem.

It was an okay mandolin for about 6 years then the neck split and it's worthless now.

Perfect for my need this was purchased for a charity to get autographs on during a music series and then raffeled off.I’m not a musician so I can’t comment on the playability of this instrument. It was received in good condition even the strings are wrapped in paper. It looks nice and that was my only concern.Sorry I can’t help with the performance standards of it.

Excelente instrumento, listo para tocar.La altura y colocación del puente permiten un digitación suave y una correcta afinación en cuanto a la correspondencia con cada juego de cuerdas y en relación al octavado y armónicos.

What can I say, I was looking for an affordable mandolin to learn on, this one met my price range including taxes and shipping, shipped amazingly fast and arrived quickly as well. As for the instrument itself, it is well made, sounds great (even with stock strings) and is easily played, over all a great instrument for beginner and amateur players.

The tailpiece cover for the mandolin keeps popping off. Won't stay on. Otherwise, instrument is fine. It's good for a beginner.

i've noticed that the reviews i've read on this instrument are mixed, people either love it or hate it. my advice to anyone looking at this instrument is to see if you have a local store that might carry it since it seems that the initial set up is a little tricky. that's how i got mine, it was professionally set up to play in the store and i was able to take as much time playing it as i wanted before i brought it home. it's still not the same animal as a 500 dollar mando but for what i paid i'm very happy with it. the tuning pegs aren't as responsive as a more expensive model, but it stays in tune well once its there. i would call the tone mellow compared to some of the other instruments i played, but that's how i like it. the action on the fret board is very light and responsive, and it's very easy to play gracenotes and slurs.in a nutshell, i would recommend this over all the other brands of instrument i played in this price range. hope this helps out. happy playing.

Had a bad sound on 2 of the strings. I know it is a hassle to return stuff, so didn't even try. My son in law said thishad 2 faulty holders for the strings which made a twangy, flimsy sound. I would not buy again.

I know some might say, "What do you expect for the price?" Well, I expect more than two weeks' worth of play time, that's what. So yeah, two whole weeks--I could have rented one cheaper than that. And, it would have been leaps and bounds over this one. The action is, of course, way too high, so I had to adjust the bridge. The only thing is the bridge isn't too adjustable. Add to this whole debacle the fact that the strings are of the absolute poorest quality. Now, I get to replace the bridge and the strings. Wasn't I supposed to be saving money by paying less? The ONLY decent thing about this thing is that it has a maple top, but mine had a big ugly knot right on the face of it. It looks like a big ugly mole. So yeah, poor quality and poor appearance make for a poor quality instrument--even for the price! With instruments, you really get what you pay for.
