Jax, our 70 # lab/irish setter/ Rottweiler mix is very furry ! Irish setter tail...long feathery hair,& very furry toes. EVERY time he goes outside, even for quick pee, the fur balls up with irritating ice balls between his toes. Then he begins to lick them,, only to make matters worst. This is the primary reason for getting him some boots. The first try he was very uncooperative, 20 minutes later, I won. After some dancing, we got him outside in the snow and it was beautiful !!!They stayed on, even after his usual charge at the ( Imaginary) bunnies/ squirrels that occasionally grace our yard. Did this several times and for the most part it was a success ! There always seems to be one boot that just isn"t on tight enough and need readjusting. Snow tends to gather in the small pocket that is created at the top of the foot. It melts a bit after time from the warmth of his foot and becomes a ice ball,... and he starts to lick it... GRRR. May need to add a extra layer of duck tape as suggested, Also the orange material is not entirely water proof. Gets damp from the snow that may collect at the top of the foot. I am going to spray with a boot water proofing spray, should help. Last try with these was a long walk around the block. Lots of sniffing and even some male foot scratching, these boots held up very well. He did his proud dominate foot thing several times, and when we got home & I took these off, there were no marks, thinning of material, or and kind of signs of use on the black part. I'm very impressed as Jax has some long nails he is use to digging in with. After some trial and error, I found the best was to get them on Jax was to have him completely lay down & the he let me gently slip these on him. After about the 3rd time he much more cooperative.I would definitely buy another pair of these.

These boots were great for our golden retriever on our 22 km mountain hike. This was the first time we've tried boots, and the reviews convinced us to try them, since his paws were in bad shape the last time we took him out. We put them on as we approached the treeline so his paws would be protected from the sharp shale and other loose rock. He loved them and had no troubles navigating and scrambling through loose terrain, although we did avoid very steep sections where he would need his claws to really climb. I only gave them 4 stars because even though they stayed on very well (although he did figure out how to pull the velcro straps to get them off), his nails did make a couple holes, so I'm not sure how long they will last but we will try the Shoo Goo. I do highly recommend this product for sharp mountain shale/rocks. We ordered a medium and they fit very well.

these are the best of the many boots & balloon type booties Ive tried on my dogs. They are flexible, keep feet dry and stay on better than other boots (you do need to snug them on well with the syraps that go in either direction). No matter how many times they wear them, my dogs always do a funny walk for the first few minutes, then forget the boots are on and go about their walk as usual.

I bought these for my labradoodle as she's always getting stickers and burrs caught in the fur between her toes. I also plan on using these on hot sand and rocky terrain. I like the design and putting them on is easy. The fit is snug and it's easy to check to see if her paws are sitting correctly in the boot. These boots are effective and simple, no extra fabric or straps to get in the way. They stay on too, my pup gave them a good romp around the apartment and they stayed in place nicely. The material feels durable and is good quality. I feel confident that they will work well for us. Make sure to check the Ultra Paws website for sizing instructions - that's what I did and they fit fine.

I bought these boots for my 50 lb labradoodle who loves to be outside in the freezing cold and snow, but gets the snowballs and salt between his toes which burn his pads. I looked for boots last winter but couldn't find any that seemed they would work, the reviews were all so-so. When I saw these, though, where they are "GUARANTEED TO STAY ON", I figured I'd give them a try.I use these in ice and snow conditions and even in deep snow with a crusty top, they have not yet come off! I'd say we've gone about 20-25 miles in them since we got them and never once have I had to adjust or anything. I've also used them on super cold days at the dog park with no issues. They don't twist around on his feet and there's no sign of wear on the bottom (we don't really use them on pavement much though, mostly snow and ice and sidewalks). When I first put them on he walked really funny in the house, but as soon as we got outside he forgot about them and walked/ran normally. The bottom of the boot is rubber, providing decent traction. My dog gets groomed regularly so his nails never get too long, not sure how long they'd last against pavement with long nails, just something to consider. Finally, one of the reviews on this site mentioned these boots not working for a dog whose paws are at "right angles" to his legs. My dog's paws are definitely like that, they look like kitty paws and the ankle is definitely not gradual. Across and straight up. Even still, I've had no issues at all with these boots. So if that's a concern I would still try them.I suggest going to the Ultra Paws website for sizing information, as they give you a bit more detail about sizing and how to take the measurement, and also instruct to leave 1/4" easement which is not on the amazon info.Editing this review on 12/30/2016 - two years later -- I STILL have these boots, we still use them all winter! They STILL have never come off my dog's feet. The velcro is starting to get a little worn, so I'm considering buying a new pair for next winter. Three winters of heavy use, still no complaints. Durable and great design!
