It didn't as advertised on my auger. I had to keep the screws out for the rope to roll back in. I had to return it.

The starter sent did not work - it didn't extend far enough to engage the 'claw'.I removed the claw and placed a washer behind it - moving it out to meet the starter.So far, so good - !
