The instructions lacked all diagrams, and I found the assembly of the handle a puzzle. It looked like you had to whack the rod into place with a hammer as the bolt was in effect frozen due to the bolt being recessed in a well. I did not want to proceed before I was sure of what I was doing, so I called the vendor. He asked for a picture. He got back to me in minutes, and told me to go ahead and tap the rod in as the bolt is preset at the factory.I really like how lightweight this drill is

I tended to steer clear of Ryobi , but I needed this for a dedicated fixture and didn’t want to break the bank. This little Ryobi fit the need perfectly and at a great price.I was surprised by the fit, finish and overall feel of the drill. Works perfect. Great homeowner drill. Would buy again.

For a refurbished item I've had about 3 years now i have no problems. Unknowingly plugged it in a 220v outlet and thought i got killed when it stopped working. I pulled it apart cleaned the armature where the carbon brush rides slightly reconstructed the shape of the carbon brush ends. Running great again.

This is my first hammer drill. I had never used a hammer drill before I bought it. I was going to borrow one, but this deal was too good to pass up. I have other Ryobi power tools, and I like them all.My refurbished drill came looking like new with a manual and all accessories. My first project was installing two 1-3/4" x 1/4" hex head Tapcons in a 20 year old concrete slab. I've heard that old concrete is supposed to be especially hard to drill into. I used the Tapcon 3/16" masonry bit. The drill had no problem drilling the 2" deep holes. The chuck slipped once and needed re-tightening it, but I think that was my fault. I haven't had any chuck slippage subsequently. My next project was drilling 16 drainage holes holes (about 1" deep) in the bottoms of freshly-cured cement planters. No problems with the drill. My most recent project involved drilling 22 holes in 20 year old cinder block for plastic concrete anchors. The holes were about 1.5" deep (usually all the way through one side of the block). It was in 90 degree heat, and I drilled up to 9 holes back-to-back without pausing. The drill did not overheat and punched through the cinder block just fine using the 1/4" masonry bit that came with the plastic concrete anchors.I've since drilled another two dozen holes in cinder block without any problems.I highly recommend this drill for DIY projects that require drilling into masonry.

I am a Ryobi fan and own a bunch of their products. I needed a hammer drill for our second home and didn't want to spend a bunch. This tool is perfect. Plenty of power and easily punch concrete or plaster for making holes.

Drills holes. I work in a stainless shop and smoked this bitch the first day. After two weeks Chuck is bent. Total garbage , DeWalt is better and I'm tired of DeWalts breaking if that says anything. I like Ryobi but if you feed it a hot supper its ganna fail you.

It works, but the hammer action is pretty weak. It works well enough with small bits on regular concrete to make it useful, but anything harder (such as granite) it barely scratches.
