This strut installed easily, with no modifications, on my 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Classic. Clearances were just fine. Naturally, with the strut installed, there is more to be done if you want to remove the tailgate. I had installed a similar strut on my 2000 Silverado 1500. While it needed a little modification to fit, it worked a little better in my opinion than this one. On it there was resistance which could be felt upon immediately opening the tail gate while on this one there is no resistance for the first foot or so of tailgate travel, hence the 4 stars. It makes it feel like there is no strut or that it isn't working. I have had this installed now for over 6 months and it is still working just the way it did when I installed it. Definitely worth the investment.

Installation was simple as following instructions and it works great to let the tailgate drop at a nice controlled rate. Like the fact the ends of the shock had metal ends on it, not the plastic ball clips on other brands. Brought a smile to my face the first time I tried it, wish I had discovered this years ago!
