The easy way to add weight to these is with weight plates, either clay or iron. The zippers will fail over time, but every saddle bag does eventually. The carabiner is for counterweight, and I wouldn't add more than 10 pounds of weight for this purpose. The yellow and black pattern is good, and easy to see for safety reasons, I can recommend this to first-timers, for sure.

These sandbags are really hard to beat for the price. These aren't going to win any awards in a durability contest for sure, but it is made out of a relatively durable canvas type material. The material reminds me of the stuff they use for covers of patio furniture, snowblowers, motorcycles, etc.The bag material is suitable. The hand strap is fine. The carabiner style clip is dollar store quality but works. So why 5-stars you may ask? Where else can you find a 2-pack of 10lb bags for less than $15?These are a great value if you have intermittent need for sandbags for c-stands and lighting stands, but don't want to shell out $50 for sandbags. A quick search on some photo-video websites that are popular, and you'd be hard-pressed to find a single 5lb bag for this price. The quality is quite suitable, and will work well. It you are using these everyday or have "staff" that will be using them, they might not last as long. But are a good inexpensive option. Throw some rocks, sand, or other material in some zip lock baggies, toss it inside, and get on with it!

As far as photo sandbags go, these are pretty middle of the road. They aren't expected to hold much weight, but they don't feel like they'd be able to take much abuse either. The outside material, which is usually a thicker canvas or ripstop fabric seems to be basic polyester and not what I'd consider "heavy duty" as the description claims. The included carabiner is flimsy and not really worth using for much (I wouldn't trust it with the weight of a full sandbag). As a tip, fill a gallon ziplock with playground pebbles or sand and fit into each side to prevent leaks. Other sandbags I've purchased come with these bags and I'm sad these don't.

There are virtually endless uses for weight bags such as these. Personally, I use them to stabilize production gear that supports a short-film hobby. But these also help hold down any light gear that may try to migrate in a light breeze or just benefit from extra stability. The good: These do what they're intended for, and at a bargain price point. In one photo; counterbalancing a microphone on a boom is shown. In this case it is about 2 KG of ballast in the bag. It will hold more but this was sufficient for the application. For traveling, the empty bags fold and pack into a pretty small space - hint: pack two zip-lock bags per saddlebag and use sand or water as ballast at your destination. Zip-locks help keep your saddlebags in good shape. The bad: None I can think of.The bottom line: There are other choices in this space, but these do the job at a very competitive price point. In this author's humble opinion these are an excellent value.

I used one of these bags to weigh down my tripod for photographing the recent eclipse. As in product photos, my tripod has a hook at the bottom for attaching weights. While these bags aren't absolutely necessary (can always find something to attach by itself), it is useful to have a bag which can hold varying weights and shapes/sizes. You can toss pretty much anything of any weight inside the zippered compartments (waterbottles, batteries, etc.). I'd be loathe to just shovel dirt or sand inside, as it would be impossible to get that mess out again (unless you bag it first). The quality looks decent. I was expecting a heavy/thick canvas material, but what they used for construction was much thinner and more flexible. They easily hold 5+ pounds without issue, and I wouldn't doubt the claims about supporting 10 pounds... they could probably support much more. The stitching looks just fine. Keep the bag out of the sun and out of the salt water, and they should remain in good shape for many years.
