Product Description

Sandbaggy White Tube Sandbags - Specifications / Recommendations

Heavy duty, with UV protection: Our rugged Sandbaggy sandbags are made with thick weaves allowing for heavy-duty applications like sandbagging, landscaping, construction, and building flood barriers. The weave count is 10x10. Our tough, coarsely-woven sandbags can be used for so many different applications. Made with 1600 hours of UV protection, these sandbags can sit under the sun for nine months before they begin to degrade.

Sandbags Filling Tips:

1. Fill sandbags ⅔ to ¾ full and tie the bag at the top (lay flat when in place). This sandbag should weigh between 35-40 lbs. An overfilled sandbag weighs between 60-75 lbs and will leave gaps which will allow water to seep through.

2. Always wear gloves during filling operation to avoid hand injuries and protect from contaminants in sand and floodwater. Safety goggles should be used on dry and windy days. Filling sandbags is physically demanding work and can easily cause back and other injuries if not careful. Always lift with your legs and not your back. Do not reach out, bend over, or twist when lifting.

3. Do not throw sandbags - it stresses the back and shoulders. Rather use a brigade line to pass bags

4. Use a short handled, #2 rounded point shovel with straight shaft and D grip, bagger scoop or funnel to fill sandbags.

5. Remove any debris from the areas where the sandbags will be placed. After placing the sandbag, walk on sandbags to create a tight seal between each bag.

Fill Materials

- Sandbaggy sandbags are built to withstand both gravel or sand. Be aware of poor quality sandbags that rupture when filled with sharp gravel rocks.

- Gravel should be filled in sandbag when used as an erosion control device (on slopes). Sand should be filled for flood control needs, whether to protect doors or garage or to divert water. If sand or gravel is not accessible, less effective solutions is to fill the sandbags with backyard soil.

Common FAQs

How much do sandbags weigh?

Our 12" x 38" Empty Tube Sandbags weigh 2.5 oz. When filled they can weigh up to 90 lbs.

How many sandbags do i need for trucks?

If you need sandbags for your truck for added traction during winter, you will need 240-300 lbs. for a 1/2 ton pickup, which is at least 3 full 12"" x 38"" tube sandbags at full weight capacity (90 lbs. each). For a 3/4 to a 1 ton pickup, you will need 300-400 lbs, which comes out to at least 4 full 12"" x 38"" tube sandbags at full weight capacity (90 lbs. each). For optimal traction, make sure the weight is centered over the rear axle, or as close as possible to the rear axle.

How do sandbags prevent flooding?

Sandbags prevent flooding by acting as a water barrier to divert water, this is due to the sand's coarse texture making it less porous (ability to absorb water) than other materials. The main benefit of using sandbags to prevent flooding is just how simple and quick they are to use and set up.

What do sandbags do for erosion control?

Sandbags help control erosion by minimizing sediment loss from rain and other natural forces on hills and slopes. Sandbags act as a barrier to divert water away from the specified area that is prone to sediment and soil loss. They are used to protect roads, beaches, buildings, and more!

The sandbags that I received are as advertised and are exactly what I expected. I filled them today for use in my truck in advance of incoming snowy weather. A bit of advice, use zip ties to close/synch the bags closed in addition to the sting ties that come attached to the bags.

Only 4 in pack, should be 5. As we live in St Lucia and have to pay duties and additional handling fees on shipments, no point in getting a replacement. Therefore price of bags became $7.50 each instead of $6. Bit disappointing tbh. (Update as of October 23 - theyve already fallen apart too!)

Living here in the Pacific Northwest, in the winter time many of us carry "Tube Sand" as ballast in the bed of our pickup trucks for traction in rain and snow. Every few years I end up replacing them because the bag disintegrates over time. This year I wondered if I could just purchase new bags from Amazon and continue with the sand/gravel from the old warn out disintegrating bags from 6+ years ago. I ordered the bags - they were a direct replacement - Refilled them with my existing sand from the old bags - and I'll be good for the next few years and probably saved at least $100.
