Love this lock! I waited almost 6 months to write this review because I saw where someone mentioned poor battery life. Now I don't use the lock a lot, there are only two of us and it gets used a few times a day. But let's start by saying the batteries have lasted 6+ months and still have 35% left, so that is a long time in my book and more than acceptable.Of all the goodies I've bought for the house my wife mentioned that this is the best one! So easy to unlock with the key pad code. No longer fumble with keys, and don't even need them together in! My friends come over and I can unlock from upstairs to let them in. Was also able to give my neighbor a code that was date restricted so he could feed the cat while we were on vacation, dang didn't even need to give him a key!Setting up WiFi.....well it worked well and wasn't too difficult...so if I can do it pretty sure anyone can. The lock is downstairs abut 60" ft the wifi source so I was a little concerned, but even with a less than optimal signal worked great.Anyway, the best thing I've bought for the house, easy secure, looks good, I give it 5 Stars and would absolutely buy again.

I picked up the Schlage smart lock to replace an old deadbolt that was sticking. I decided to go with a smart lock, rather than have to make multiple copies of new keys for extended family.Installation was straightforward and easy - at least for the Schlage hardware. I had to reposition the strike plate a few times, as the original installation was a bit off center, but that was it. Maybe ten minutes of work at most.Setup was likewise easy. I downloaded the Schlage app and connected the lock to both WiFI and my Ring doorbell app with no issues. I have a mesh wifi system with one node close to the front door so the signal is strong and solid, which I'm sure helps. The settings in the app offer a lot of customization as well as room for 100 codes, allowing me to give every family member a code they'll personally remember. I also have it set to auto lock after a few minutes, as well as automatically lock past a certain time at night. I also appreciate getting notifications letting me know if the door is left unlocked.Battery life will be the next big test, but I've had the lock live for a week now and the batteries have only fallen to 98%, which so far is promising. That said, it's probably a good idea to use higher end batteries like Duracell or Energizer for a device such as this, just to be safe.

The wireless functionality is good for two reasons:1) If you think you forgot to lock the font door.2) If you need to give someone temporary access you can give them a code. One thing to remember is you'll still want a key as a backup, so you'll need to get a re-keying kit so that all the locks match. It's not the trickiest procedure, but it's not trivial either since getting the pins right and not losing springs can be a bit tricky.

The Scglage WiFi Automatic Door Lock is a game-changer! Easy to install in under 30 minutes, it connects seamlessly to your smartphone for remote locking/unlocking. The app is user-friendly and sends real-time access alerts, making it great for security. The auto-lock feature is convenient, and temporary codes for guests are a huge plus. Reliable and efficient, it's perfect for a hassle-free, smart home experience. Highly recommend!

After much research, I finally bit the bullet and bought a Schlage Encode, and I'm so glad I did. I love this lock! Installation instructions (especially the online interactive instructions) made it easy to install, although I did have to make a few minor modifications because it didn't quite retrofit to my old lock fittings. Now that it is installed, everything seems to be working perfectly. The Schlage Home app makes it super easy to lock/unlock the door (great to do from the car when you have an armload of shopping or from bed if you're not sure the door is locked), set up user codes for specific dates and times (which I need for my Airbnb guests) and notify me when the door is locked and unlocked. It can be set up to automatically lock or not after the door is open (great for when people leave to ensure the door is locked). I'm so happy not to have to take my key with me when going out. Definitely worth the price.

This Schlage Decode lock is great! I owned the Kevo 2nd Gen previous to this but the Kevo was problematic and did not have as many nice features like this. I'm going to compare the 2 so you know the pros and cons of both.Schlage: Con: You have to get it rekeyed at Lowe's or HD if you want it rekeyed. Or you have to get a special kit and then you can rekey. Not as simple as Kwikset's simple rekey technology. Standing on the outside, I open my door inward and my door swings to the right. When first installed, the thumbturn seemed to not fully turn to thrust the deadbolt fully into the lock strike-plate. It turns out, you have to turn on the phone app and then enter the preprogrammed lock combination on the lock panel. Then a note will appear on the phone app to ask to proceed. After telling the App to proceed, the Schlage door lock will open and close and then the thumbturn will function properly.Pro: LOTS. Lock is quiet and smooth in it's operation of thrusting and retracting the deadbolt. WiFi remote ability included. It pairs with my WiFi router easily since the door location has great signal. I can operate this lock from anywhere in the world using the phone app as long as my phone has internet capability. To operate this lock at the lock itself, locking is simply pushing the lock icon button on the lock's numbered panel. You can also assign multiple access digit codes on the lock number panel for different people. As a result, everyone can choose his own number code to operate the lock and the App will show who opened and closed the lock based on which codes were used. Takes only a few seconds to enter the number code to open the door and kids love doing this. You can also program it to lock automatically from 30 secs to 4 minutes after it's been unlocked. I set it to 4 minutes in case I forget to lock my door; it automatically locks in 4 minutes. 30 seconds is too short because I sometimes need to get something from my garage or patio and I don't want the lock to automatically lock so quickly. Four minutes is plenty of time to go out to do a short errand around the house. It also comes with a real backup key which I hide but have access externally in case the battery runs out or the electronics malfunction. Some of the smart locks don't have backup mechanical key function and this in my mind is dangerous. Sure, you can put a 9 volt battery to power the lock and it will solve the low internal battery problem but what if the electronics are defective? And who stores a 9 volt battery outside just in case the lock's battery goes too low? Speaking of batteries, the Schlage App shows the actual battery strength. So far, I've used the lock heavily for 1 week and the battery percentage went down 1% so a set of 4 batteries should last 6 months to 1 year. Also, to change the battery, the cover just pulls up and the battery is quickly and easily changed.I really like this Schlage lock.Kevo 2nd Gen - Pro: Can be re-keyed easily. Yes, you can re-key it to use your old keys by just turning the key while in the lock, pushing in a flat metal tool, removing old key, inserting new key, and turning lock. Simple, fast, and easy.Con: Noisier than Schlage when it mechanically moves the deadbolt.Con: Kevo App doesn't tell what the battery strength is, unlike the Schlage. To change the battery, 3 screws must be removed and the faceplate must be removed and then the battery can be changed. Too big of a hassle when you have to do this monthly.Must use a smart Phone to unlock Kevo and be nearby since it only uses bluetooth. You have to be less than 20 ft to remotely open/lock the Kevo. To use wifi, you have to buy a Wifi adapter costing about $100 extra. No code access. There is no number panel on lock so anyone without a phone cannot open the door without a key. As a result, my 10 year old could never unlock the door. To open, the Kevo app must be opened on the phone and you can remotely open the lock if you are less than 20 ft away since it uses bluetooth. Or if the app is opened in the background, you can touch the "rose face-plate" of the Kevo and it unlocks. However, sometimes this doesn't work and I would have to use the app to remotely open it or even just use the key. The Kevo is not as reliable as the Schlage and there is no number panel to key directly to the Kevo in case remote operation doesn't work..So just spend a little more money and get a Schlage Decode. It provides all the features I want in a smart lock and is reliable in it's operation. Also, make sure the deadbolt travels into the strikeplate easily, without resistance. Otherwise, it's requires more energy (shortens battery life) and lock may jam.

I had door installers put these on a new door for me (not a locksmith). Then I had someone else set it up for me. The app works great, takes only 1-2 seconds to respond. I was a little lost at first but the guide on Schlage's blog helped me out a lot. Easy to set up new users and virtual keys. Love it! It looks really pretty too ^_^ I bought mine with the matching handle and interior door levers :)
