I change my downrigger line after 2 seasons. Every season I cut off about 10 ft and retire everything back on. Probably don’t need to but I figure it’s cheaper to replace the line instead of a new ball and all the hardware associated with it.

Lost a full rig because the steel cable snapped. No worries with the braid snapping. Also eliminated the wire “humm” while trolling deep. Make sure to get the Scotty red braid stops.

This is so much easier to use and quite when trolling your downrigger. I wouldn't hesitate to switch over.

The 400 foot spool only had 365 ft on it. Counter on DR is brand new and measured the line coming off with zero variance. Going back on with new line I'm 35 feet short. Scotty customer service is non existent so buyer beware. I'll buy Tuff Line next time.
