About this item

  • Precision Screw Size Chart & Drill Bit Gauge : Laser-etched chart instantly matches **#4-#14 wood screws** to fractional-inch pilot holes (softwood left, hardwood right). Ex: #14 screw uses 15/64" tapered (softwood) or 1/4" straight (hardwood).
  • Dual Drill Bit Compatibility (Tapered & Straight) : Tapered bits for countersinking (left), straight bits for shank clearance (right). Eliminates split wood and stripped screws.
  • Aerospace 6061 Aluminum + Dual-Scale Ruler : 4mm-thick aluminum with fade-proof markings. 15cm metric scale (screw lengths) and 6-inch ruler (drill bit checks) built into edges.
  • Fractional-Inch Pilot Hole Standardization : Softwood/hardwood pilot holes use fractional inches only (e.g., 11/64") for global drill bit compatibility.
  • Pro-Grade Drill Gauge & Screw Sizer : Trusted by woodworkers for ANSI-compliant sizing and lifetime durability. Mounting holes for wall/toolbox storage; rounded edges for safe handling.

I will admit that I am the level of DIYer who gets value from this thing pointing me towards the right drill bit. It encourages me to not be lazy, to drill pilot holes well fitted to the screws I intend to use, rather than just eyeballing any bit that looks likely. I'm sure my joins are stronger for it.I know that there are lots of handy people whose eyeballs have been trained to choose the right bit for many years, and they already know that this tool is not needed for them. All that said, this is a nice piece of kit. I already use good, well regarded thread gauge cards for machine screws and bolts and this chart is of the same quality. Sturdy solid aluminum, the printing is bright, a couple holes to hang it from. I can't find details on Namoka, there are several such companies around Asia, but this is good manufacturing. Thumb up.

I’ve always wanted one of these to use as a reference in my shop, and this one doesn’t disappoint. A short paragraph providing more details follows the Pros/Cons list below.Pros- Accurate- Sturdy/solidly built (not flimsy)- Beautiful powder coat- Easy to read- Hardwoods AND softwoods- Straight bits AND tapered bits- SAE and metric (cm)Cons- Slight wiggle room might deter some customers expecting a perfect fit- Mounting holes not countersunkMade of solid aluminum, this drill bit pilot hole guide has got some weight, and feels good in the hand. The blue metallic powder coat adds a subtle layer of texture, making it easy to pick up even if coated in dust, or with oily/dirty hands, and the markings are easily legible. Every edge has been beveled or rounded, which means it’s entirely kid-friendly. I tested the accuracy of the guide using drill bits and machine screws of which the diameter/size I was certain of; and as far as I can tell everything is spot on. There is a tiny bit of play in the holes, but it appears to be intentional as every hole has the same amount of space, and it’s minimal - meaning there’s still no doubt when you’re testing your own bit, bolt, or screw. The space is roughly 1/64th (if I had to guess), and almost certainly exists to prevent binding. And as I mentioned, even with that space there’s still no doubt when measuring. For example, while a 7/32 bit might wiggle a little in the 7/32 hole, it’s the only place it’ll fit, leaving no question that it’s the correct size. I didn’t dock a star for this, as I’m sure it’s all but required to leave some small amount of space when machining an all-metal guide like this. Many people probably aren’t using perfectly clean bits and screws, so some tiny amount of space would be expected so the bit/screw doesn’t get stuck. Still, it’s something to be aware of. I especially like that it comes with different results for tapered vs straight bits, and hardwoods vs softwoods. There’s a lot of information here that any woodworker can appreciate. Even if you’ve already got all this info memorized by now, you can still use this as a quick reference guide for determining the size of the fastener you’re holding. Lastly, while it does come with screw holes for mounting, they aren’t countersunk, so mounting will require pan head screws if you want it to be secured properly and look good. That said, it’s aluminum, so countersinking can easily be done if you’re so inclined.Overall, I’d highly recommend this pilot hole guide for anyone interested in woodworking. Most times it’s simple enough to eyeball the bit you’ll need for a pilot hole, but when you start working with exotic hardwoods, or one of a kind pieces, accuracy matters as much as anything else - even when it comes to drilling pilot holes. And beyond that, it’s a nifty little guide for determining the sizes of screws/bolts/bits, or even as a straight edge in a pinch. I’m extremely satisfied with mine and would highly recommend.

This is one of those tools you don’t realize you needed until you have it. It’s laser-etched on thick 6061 aluminum and feels solid in the hand—definitely not a flimsy throwaway. The chart is clear and easy to read, giving you both softwood and hardwood pilot hole sizes for screws #4 through #14. I’ve used it a few times now to pick the right drill bit when pre-drilling and it’s already saved me from splitting wood.It supports both tapered and straight bits, and includes a built-in ruler on two sides, which is a nice touch. The etching looks permanent and won’t rub off with use. Just know this is a guide—you’ll still need to know the type of screw and application. But for quick reference, especially if you work with wood often, it’s a smart and compact addition to the toolbox.

I grabbed this because I do a lot of woodworking and building and thought this would be a helpful guide to have at hand. I was pleasantly surprised by how useful this is. Especially in finding the correct size bit to predrill holes for the screws I am driving in. Makes it nice to have predrilled holes so there is no wood splitting and that they aren't too big so that you have to go up screw size or fill the hole. The product itself seems accurate and being made out of metal is a nice touch that makes you feel like this will hold up for a long time even if beat up around the shop being dropped in drawers and knocked on the ground.

I ordered this combo screw size chart and drill bit gauge for my woodworking projects, and I've found it to be incredibly useful. Many people overlook the importance of pre-drilling for wood screws. If the hole is too small, you risk splitting the wood, while a hole that is too large won’t allow the screw to grip properly. This screw size chart and drill bit gauge take away the guesswork from the process. This product has several standout features:First, it's made from laser-etched aluminum, which is much more durable than the cheap plastic alternatives.Second, it offers guidance for both softwood and hardwood.Third, it provides recommendations for both straight and tapered drill bits.Additionally, the product includes measurements in both inches and centimeters to help verify screw and bit lengths.Overall, my experience with this combo screw size chart and drill bit gauge has been very satisfying. If you do any woodworking, I highly recommend considering this product, as it will help you avoid many headaches in your projects.

I have hundreds of drill bits and no way to tell the sizes when I need a specific size for a specific project. This handy and durable drill bit gauge will now save me time. The printed measurements are bright and easy to read and the shiny blue color makes it easy to find. I only wish I had found this handy device years ago!
