The SE 795ACPC 5-Inch Automatic Center Punch features a brass body, hardened steel tip, and high tension spring. It punches, stakes, scribes, and marks wood, metal, plastic, and other surfaces to start drilling, nail, or screw holes, and eliminates the need for a hammer to do the job. This automatic center punch helps prevent screws, nails, and drill bits from moving around. The automatic action produces a hole when you apply downward pressure. You can change the amount of force per blow to control the size and depth of the mark. This tool has a carbon steel tip that is 1-1/16" long.

I'm not sure why this got a lot of negative reviews. It's just a few dollars, and it does work. Is it the highest functioning forged steel precision instrument to add to the top of your tool chest with pride? Probably not, but you weren't expecting that. It is an automatic center punch and makes a small hole in the surfact that you want to mark. It can't be hammered on like a traditional center punch so it lacks some of the variety of use, but it makes up for that in its spring loaded convenience. So buy two center punches, one regular one and one spring loaded. That seems like a reasonable compromise.

Does function as intended, but constantly unscrews itself during use. Tiny internal snap ring that holds the hardened tip in place is apparently made of plastic - broke after less than fifty punches. Two slight design tweaks would make this thing awesome - but what I received is disappointing.

Only actually fires about 1 in 5 times, but for my purposes, just the act of pushing down on the wood is good enough to leave a dent. Look elsewhere if you need to use it often, or on metal.

It does work, but I have to unscrew the body and re-adjust the strike spring as it tends to get bound up after each use. I would recommend paying more for a higher quality spring punch if you intend to use this type of tool on a regular basis. You will get frustrated with this one. Ok for occational use given the price. Harbour Freight might be a better and cheaper option for this exact type of punch if a store is close to you and can pick up in store without shipping fees.

Albeit small and cheap.. this little guy lasts and does the job well.This is my second center punch. My first one looked A LOT like this one and came from Harbor Freight. It's probably the longest lasting tool I have ever purchased from them. It wasn't until my friend used my old center punch as a chisel that I needed a new one.I wanted to be mad at my simpleton friend... but since these are so cheap, I forgave and forgot.Tested this new one the minute I opened it and yep... just as good as my last but with a little more PUNCH (must be a stronger spring).Get it, you won't be disappointed.

Great center punch, excellent value for money. It works very well for electrical boxes that need to be punched, drill and tapped.The Vender even sent the punch to my military address which some venders would not. Though I'm stationed overseas I received the product in about 9 business days which is very good for my location.

I bought this window punch because as a cop I've seen hitting windows with batons fail and I've seen these window punches work well to extract unconscious passengers who have locked themselves in vehicles. I did not care for this punch as the pin sticks out so you have to watch where you store it. I would recommend one where the pin stays in the pen, and a more compact unit, and one with a clip so it can be worn as a pen. It might work well but I would recommend something else.

I recently bought one of these for every family members to put in their cars. I live in an area of Georgia that flooded recently, and a number of people were trapped in their cars during the floods. This auto center punch is easy to use to break out a window in an emergency. All you do is put the point of this punch near the corner of your car side window and press. The spring loaded punch will automaticaly shatter the window and allow you to escape the car. The punch is small and easy to store in the front console.
