As a rubber mat alone this is very thick and heavy.Durable and also soft for great grip.Ribbed for traction and drainage. The cable and connectors are very thick and robust.Grommets are steel if you want to peg this down (recommended if on slopes). The power cable is also thick and heavy duty for extreme outdoor conditions. The connectors are solid and the switch is robust and easy to see and use.Its great that you can daisy chain these together which is essential if you want to cover steps. Its a manual activation and it will melt depending on the temperature, thickness and duration.Advised not to spread salt on this mat because it may eat away at the rubber.Comes with a nylon strap for summer storage.

This mat is heavy-duty and does a great job. I tested it out on a walkway where I covered it with snow, then walked over it for a few days until the snow was packed on it pretty well. It wasn’t solid ice, but it was halfway there. When the weather warmed up a little bit above freezing, I plugged the mat in for about 1 1/2 hours. The packed snow had melted quite a bit. I was able to take one end of the mat and give it a shake, and all the remaining packed snow just flew off. I’m thinking of using it on my roof in a spot where I get some ice build-up. I’ll plug it in when the outdoor temperature goes above zero for a few hours at a time, and that should prevent any ice dams from forming in that troublesome spot.

This review is for: SEAL 24" x 60" Industrial Snow Melting Mat for Walkway with Inline Power Cord, Rubber Heated Outdoor Mat, Decks & Sidewalks - Reliable Non-Slip Snow & Ice Melt Mat, IPX6 WaterproofThere are a lot of heated mats being made out there. I think this is one of the better brands to be had.It melts snow well. I haven't had any issues with it whatsoeverI'm still too leery to put it on anything wood like a deck, but I have it on the cement ground and it works great.

The mat functions well. The mat is very heavy, which might speak to it's quality. It was able to keep the snow off the area where we placed it. Although it functions as it should, the mat we got was way too small for the area and we still needed to shovel the area that didn't have this. The price is a bit on the pricier side at $300. I am guessing it would be convenient for a small area like the front of your door so you don't slip when walking outside.
