We had an old crank driven rotary seed spreader, but its handle broke off last spring. Fortunately, our properties have only a few problem areas to reseed, so a rotary spreader is overkill. I wanted something that had less moving parts to fail and was hoping this shaker would be an adequate replacement.The graduated markings on the outside aren't very helpful, since the plastic isn't transparent. Perhaps debossed markings inside, or an adjacent clear level indicator slot would have greater effect. Although the shaker has a few shortcomings, it performed okay for our immediate need.

Kwevos Hand Held Spreader (ASIN : B0DSPFQLPV) I primarily got this to help spread rock salt in the winter. My usual method is to use a cup or plain scoop, and jiggle it out, which doesn't always spread it evenly. Also, I can't carry as much in a small scoop. This container holds a lot, so I can do my porch and front walk without having to reload - probably even the whole driveway. The rugged, sturdy spreader is easy to use with heavy winter gloves on, from the twist off top, to the dial to open and select a hole size, plus a good handle. It has multiple shaker openings. The rock salt comes out well using the middle sized holes. Smaller ice melt would come out of the smaller holes. This is also going to be handy in spring and summer when we spot reseed the grass, or fertilize in tights spots in the flower beds, when our large wheeled spreader is too big.

It is easy to use and fill. Using it to scatter salt on the driveway worked well. I also plan to use it for spreading grass seeds this spring.

This seed shaker is really good quality. It's made of a hard plastic and doesn't feel cheap. The green rotating portion clicks securely into place so it won't accidentally slide around when you're dispersing seeds. The capacity is good too, holds a good amount without being too unwieldy.

This seed spreader is fairly robust and easy to handle. However, the markings aren't really usable since they are on the outside and the plastic is opaque. In addition, there are only three sizing options on the dispenser, which makes if more useful for things like salt than smaller seeds. There are also some places inside the lid where small seeds can get caught easily; these issues do limit the functionality, but it is nice enough that I will likely use it when appropriate.

Comfortable to use and easy to adjust for different seed sizes. Great for lawns, salt, or fertilizer—holds a lot and spreads evenly without clumping.

This spreader has a good capacity, so you don't have to reload too frequently. I like the versatility of this for use with different types of products since you can choose the size of the sifter. It's better than a manual mechanism. You have to be careful not to release too much if you're spreading something tiny like grass seeds.

this is so functional and multi purpose! I love how easy it was to use and fill. Holds quite a bit making it the perfect size for in hand.
