I looked at maybe 10 different iterations of this set on Amazon before finally deciding on this one, since it had the most reindeer. I also bought another set to compare. My first impression is that both came out of the same Chinese manufacturing plant, so the supplier and cost are meaningless factors. Also, it isn't solid metal, so it isn't as weighty as you think (and as other reviewers led me to believe). It holds stockings fine, but if you put in anything heavier than plastic or have a curious cat, down it goes! There are no options to adhere it to your mantle, but they do have velvet on the bottom so it doesn't scratch surfaces. (If you want it to stay, I'd suggest a Command strip or three.)Finally, they really are nice to look at in person, and the gold is glittery and contrasts well with the silver, so that's why I kept them. All in all, I was willing to sacrifice some weight for the look of the set, and I didn't want to go over the price point for something with more heft.

Look great. Like all stocking holders ... if you overfill the stockings they will not stay on the fireplace. We put the stockings on the floor is we overfill.
