I don’t understand why on Earth Seymour Duncan sends the pickup with the ring already installed. Anyone that can install a pickup can mount them in the rings but if you’re not using the ring removing it is an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. If that is the case for you be prepared to break furniture trying to remove the soldered nut on the screw and then resoldering the nut since the pickup tab is not threaded. That being said, the pickup sounds incredible and it’s definitely worth it, I just with SD would listen to the people and just let the people install the ring themselves if they need to.

My mistake for falling for the Antiquity marketing hype and buying one of these based on previous good experience with Seymour Duncan pickups. This was to replace the original stock Gibson pickup in an original 1969 LP Deluxe. The Antiquity went in fine and was easy to install but I was leery of the faux aging ("reliced") as it looked like gray, waxy smudges and nothing like the actual 50 year old aged pickup. Once it was installed in the guitar the contrast between it and the stock neck pickup was too apparent and the fake aging looked horrible next to the bright, shiny though finely micro-scratched Gibson pickup. The sound of the Antiquity was even more shrill, hollow, and piercing than the stock bridge pickup was. The butt-ugly fake aging is lame marketing and if you want one that's not reliced you'll need to either buy a genuine Gibson or another aftermarket pickup builder. At least as a result of this mistake I discovered Lindy Fralin's pickups which are priced in the same ballpark, much better sounding and appearing, and highly recommended. Avoid these Antiquity II faked relics unless you want shrill, smudged pickups. On the other hand, I liked Duncan's Custom Mini which is a nice pickup.

Be aware, the nut that holds the pup into the mounting ring is soldered onto the screw, so I had to cut the screws to take it out of the ring. I would imagine most people are buying this for a guitar that accepts this style of mounting anyway though. Amazing pickup.

I bought a set of these to go in my St. Blues Mississippi Bluesmaster. It originally had P90's, then I put in a set of Guitar Fetish Liverpool mini-filtertrons, and finally put in a set of these SD Antiquity II Mini Humbuckers.I have to say that based on the initial comparison recordings in of the same guitar, exact same amp, settings, microphone and physical setup for recording...I'm a little underwhelmed. I think I might need to adjust the pickup height a bit. The bridge seemed kind of thin. The neck sounds pretty good...What I was really impressed with after this experience was the inexpensive Guitar Fetish mini-filtertrons.In fairness, I was playing through a Bugera V5 to record these.when I made that comparison.Later I moved these over to a stratocaster with a 3 way switch. It's not bad, but something about this pickups just doesn't do it for me.I'd describe them as having a fairly "warm" vintage kind of tone, and I guess that is what they are supposed to be. But for around $240+ for the set...I expected something more...perhaps better clarity. They sound a little muddy, and kind of lacking "balls".

I never had any original Gibson minihumbuckers .. I can not believe they could be any better than these new/ old pickups. Biggest single improvement ever.
